APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING INFORMATION ASSOCIATED WITH REFLECTION CHARACTERISTICS OF A SURFACE
Apparatus for determining information associated with reflection characteristics of a surface comprising a sensor (60) configured to generate sensor output dependent on an intensity of light incident on the sensor and having a field of view directed at an external surface (57) in use; an illumination source (58) configured to emit light onto the external surface in use; an optically transparent window (61) located such as to allow light to pass from the illumination source to the external surface and to allow light to pass to the sensor from the external surface in use; a light concentrator (66) fixed to or integral with the window, the light concentrator being configured to concentrate at least some light from the illumination source onto the external surface in use such that the concentrated light may be reflected from the external surface onto the sensor via the window; and a processor (40) configured to use the sensor output to determine information associated with reflection characteristics of the external surface.
A DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE WITH AT LEAST ONE TRANSPARENT REGION OF HOUSING
The present disclosure relates to a drug delivery device comprising: a housing; a moveable number sleeve disposed within the housing and having numbers printed thereon; and a transparent window occupying an aperture of the housing and covering the number sleeve such that the number sleeve is visible through the transparent window. At least one region of the housing located adjacent to the transparent window is transparent to visible light and is in optical communication with the transparent window.
APPARATUSES, METHODS, AND SYSTEMS FOR DELIVERING MEDICATION USING MEDICATION KITS
Aspects of the present disclosure disclose a system for delivering medication. In one aspect, the disclosure is directed a kit that includes a medical dispensing device with a label with a series of zones of varying widths, with each of the zones corresponding to a pre-determined volumetric dose of the drug that is correlated to one of the physical characteristics of a patient. In one specific example, the label is further affixed to the medicine dispensing device such that the smallest dose of the drug to be administered corresponds to a first zone that is proximate an opening through which the drug is to be dispensed.
Method of controlling medical fluid therapy machine brightness
A method of controlling a medical fluid therapy machine display brightness includes: performing a medical fluid therapy using the medical fluid therapy machine, the medical fluid therapy machine including a display; sensing an amount of ambient light impinging the display without receiving light directly from the display; controlling a level of backlight brightness for the display based on the amount of ambient light sensed; and displaying information relating to the medical fluid therapy on the display using the controlled level of backlight brightness.
SMART VALVED HOLDING CHAMBER
A medication delivery system having a holding chamber capable of delivering dosages of medicament from a metered dose inhaler. The holding chamber includes an actuator detector, flow detector and display. In another embodiment, a medication delivery system includes a holding chamber having an input and an output end, a metered dose inhaler operably coupled to the input end of the holding chamber, and a metered dose inhaler identifier associated with the holding chamber and operable to identify the metered dose inhaler coupled to the holding chamber.
Multi-chamber injection device
A multi-chamber injection device includes multiple syringes. The multiple syringes may be arrayed in a circular, linear, or other format. In some implementations, a needle, port, or similar may be shared by all the syringes in configuration that allows only one syringe to deliver contents at a time while blocking the other syringes from delivering their respective contents. In some implementations, the syringes may be all stored in the same container. One or more of the chambers of a multi-chamber injection device may be preloaded with medication. Different medications may be loaded into different chambers. The medications may be selected to treat the same medical condition.
Pen-type injection device and electronic clip-on module therefor
The present invention relates to a supplementary device for a manually operable injection device. The device has a body and a mating unit configured to releasably mount the body to the injection device in a specific position relative to an outside surface of the injection device.
Peritoneal dialysis systems and related methods
A peritoneal dialysis (PD) fluid line set includes a fluid line configured to carry spent dialysate to a drain receptacle and a chemical testing device disposed along the fluid line. The chemical testing device is configured to detect a presence of a substance in the spent dialysate as the spent dialysate flows past the chemical testing device, and the chemical testing device is configured to provide a visual indicator of the presence of the substance in the spent dialysate.
Supplemental device for use with an injection device
A supplemental device comprising: a connector configured to attach the supplemental device to an injection device in use; a sensor configured to generate sensor output dependent on an intensity of light on the sensor and having a field of view directed at a surface area of the injection device in use, the surface area being external to the supplemental device; a light source configured to generate illumination which in use can be directed out of the supplemental device onto the surface area; a shield configured to limit the field of view of the sensor such that the field of view is entirely directed at the surface area in use; and a processor configured to use the sensor output generated when illumination from the light source is reflected from the surface area to determine a property of the injection device.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR LOCATING FLUID LEAKS IN A REDUCED PRESSURE DRESSING UTILIZING A REMOTE DEVICE
A system and method for performing tissue therapy may include applying a reduced pressure to a tissue site of a patient. A fluid parameter associated with applying a reduced pressure to the tissue site may be sensed. An audible fluid leak location sound may be generated in response to sensing the fluid parameter. The audible fluid leak location sound may be altered in response to sensing that the fluid parameter changes. By altering the audible fluid leak location sound in response to sensing a change of the fluid parameter, a clinician may detect location of a fluid leak at the drape by applying force to the drape. The force applied to the drape may be a clinician pressing a finger onto an edge of the drape.
