METHODS FOR USING ANAL AND PERIANAL THERAPEUTIC SUBSTANCE DELIVERY DEVICE
A method of delivering an agent to a mammal includes providing a device with an agent for delivery of the agent to anal and/or perianal tissues of the mammal. The device is inserted into an anus of the mammal and then an expandable portion of the device is expanded to anchor the device within the anus.
HYDROGEN-DELIVERING SYSTEM FOR A BODILY ORIFICE
A system for delivery of molecular hydrogen (H.sub.2) into a bodily orifice of a subject, such as the vagina or anus/rectum, to provide therapeutic effect.
CONNECTION UNIT FOR AIR FEEDING TUBE, AND METHOD OF FEEDING AIR INTO CONNECTION UNIT FOR AIR FEEDING TUBE
A connection unit for air feeding tube is a connection unit to which an air feeding tube is connectable and fixable and which includes: a first pipe having an opening through which gas from the air feeding tube flows in; a second pipe that is configured to be arrangeable substantially parallel to a surface of a bed used in an examination, and includes an opening through which the gas flows out; and an air feeding flow path which is formed to include the two openings and through which the gas is fed. When the air feeding tube is fixed to the connection unit for air feeding tube and is used, a part of the air feeding flow path for the gas is formed so as to pass through an area located at a position opposite to a gravitational direction with respect to a central axis of the second pipe.
MULTI-MODAL FIVE LUMEN GAS CIRCULATION SYSTEM FOR USE IN ENDOSCOPIC SURGICAL PROCEDURES
A system is disclosed for performing an endoscopic surgical procedure in a surgical cavity, which includes a multi-modal gas delivery device including a primary gas circulation pump, a secondary gas circulation pump and an insufflation subunit, and an interface plate adapted and configured to engage with the multi-modal gas delivery device and including a connector and a filter seat corresponding to five different lumens, each of which provides a different functionality.
Multi-band rubber band ligation device and method of operation thereof
A rectal injection device and a method of operating the same. In one embodiment, the device includes: (1) a body having a handle, (2) a suction system associated with the body, (3) a trigger associated with the handle, (4) a pod coupled to the body via a neck and (5) multiple suction ports associated with the pod, each of the multiple suction ports configured to receive a ligation band thereabout, the suction system configured to provide a suction to the multiple suction ports to draw tissue thereinto, the pod configured to deploy the ligation bands upon activation of the trigger.
Systems and methods for reducing contaminants in a portion of a patient
Systems and methods for reducing pathogens near an implant are discussed. In some cases, the methods include reducing contaminants in a portion of a patient that has an implant and that is disposed interior to a closed surface of skin of the patient. The method can further include placing a conduit in the closed surface of skin and flowing an antimicrobial fluid into that portion of the patient to contact the antimicrobial fluid with a surface of the implant and tissue adjacent to the implant. In some cases, the antimicrobial fluid is then removed from the portion of the patient having the implant. As part of this method, biofilm near the implant can be mechanically, ultrasonically, electrically, chemically, enzymatically, or otherwise disrupted. Other implementations are described.
Irising drainage device and irising rectal catheter
An irising drainage device is disclosed, including an irising collection funnel having a plurality of overlapping petals extending from an annulus defining a central aperture and a conduit extending from the annulus away from the irising collection funnel. The conduit includes a lumen in fluid communication with the central aperture. An irising rectal catheter is disclosed, including an irising collection funnel having a plurality of overlapping elastically deformable petals extending from an annulus defining a central aperture and an elastomeric tube extending from the central aperture away from the irising collection funnel. The elastomeric tube includes a lumen in fluid communication with the central aperture. The irising collection funnel is configured to elastically narrow in response to a radially inward pressure and expand with reduction of the radially inward pressure. The plurality of elastically deformable overlapping petals, the annulus, and the elastomeric tube are integrally formed with one another.
Irrigation system comprising dual pumps
An irrigation system is disclosed that can be uses in, for example, rectal irrigation. The system comprises a reservoir for an irrigating liquid and a probe for arrangement in a user. The probe includes an inflatable balloon for fixing the catheter in a body cavity. A first pump is provided to pump irrigation liquid from the reservoir to the probe, and a second pump is provided to pump a fluid to the balloon for inflation. A control unit controls the transfer of the irrigation liquid and the fluid, and includes a valve for releasing fluid from the balloon for deflation. Tubing provides fluid communication between the reservoir, control unit and probe. The control unit and the first and second pumps are further arranged as an integrated unitary component, and the manually operable balloon control element is arranged in the vicinity of the second pump.
Applicator for dispensing a medical substance and methods associated therewith
An applicator 270 includes a stem 174 having an axially-formed slot delivery passage 200. A slot 350 is formed transaxially through the stem 174 and is in communication with the slot delivery passage 200. An extended side wall 350b is formed on one side of the slot 350. A flat surface 354, which is formed in the stem 174, is spaced and extends angularly away from an opposite side of the slot 176 and from the extended side wall 350b to provide for direct and lateral dispensing of a cream 280 onto a tissue 242 of a patient.
