METHOD AND SYSTEM TO MONITOR URINE OUTPUT AND MANAGE FLUID RETENTION IN A PATIENT
A method to treat patients suffering from fluid overload including: administrating a diuretic to the patient to increase urine output of the patient; monitoring intravascular volume of the patient; and maintaining the patient in a condition in which the intravascular volume is below a baseline intravascular volume and above a hemodynamic level by adjusting the administered diuretic.
Internal drainage catheter for ascites drainage
An internal drainage catheter for ascites drainage according to an embodiment has an improved structure so as to allow ascites in a peritoneal cavity to be discharged in urine via a bladder and ensure significant fixation force to a bladder wall based on which the peritoneal cavity and the bladder are separated from each other.
Implantable renal replacement therapy device
An implantable renal replacement therapy device may include: a first catheter configured to be inserted into a blood vessel in a subject's body; a pump in fluid communication with the first catheter, the pump is configured to pump subject's blood from the blood vessel; a filter in fluid communication with the pump, the filter is configured to: receive the subject's blood from the pump, and filter the received blood to provide a filtered blood and a filtrate liquid, wherein the filter is in fluid communication with the first catheter to cause an outflow of the filtered blood from the filter to the blood vessel; and a second catheter in fluid communication with the filter and configured to be inserted into an urinary bladder in the subject's body to cause an outflow of the filtrate liquid from the filter to the urinary bladder.
Formulations and methods for direct sodium removal in patients having heart failure and/or severe renal dysfunction
A direct sodium removal (DSR) infusate regimen and methods of use are provided for removing sodium and reducing fluid overload in patients with severe renal dysfunction and/or heart failure, in which a patient has at least a first DSR session with a first DSR infusate having no or low sodium that is instilled into a patient's peritoneal cavity for a first dwell period to cause sodium and excess fluid to migrate to the patient's peritoneal cavity, and thereafter, the patient may undergo conventional dialysis to rebalance the patient's fluid and sodium levels.
Drug Delivery Device with Drug-Permeable Component
Implantable drug delivery devices include a housing having a closed drug reservoir lumen bounded by a first wall structure and a hydrophilic second wall structure, and a drug contained in the drug reservoir lumen, wherein the first wall structure is impermeable to the drug and the second wall structure is permeable to the drug. Methods of providing controlled release of drug to a patient include deploying a drug delivery device in the patient releasing a drug from the drug reservoir lumen via diffusion through the second wall structure.
Urinary Drainage System with Air Pressure Apparatus
A urinary drainage system includes an air pressure apparatus. The air pressure apparatus includes a connector and an adapter. The connector includes a reduced diameter portion, a connector lumen extending from an upstream opening to a downstream opening in the reduced diameter portion, and a lateral port configured for drawing a fluid sample from the connector lumen. The adapter is sealing coupled to the connector and includes an adapter lumen receiving the reduced diameter portion, the downstream opening in fluid communication with the adapter lumen. A luminal space is defined in the adapter lumen around the reduced diameter portion of the connector. The adapter further includes an air intake port including a port lumen orthogonal to the adapter lumen, which is configured to provide a positive air flow to the luminal space to draw a fluid through the downstream opening in the reduced diameter portion of the connector.
Self-Washing Catheter
The present invention is a self-cleaning catheter designed to impede the development of biofilm within the catheter and provide a mechanism for removing biofilm within the catheter during use by a patient. The self-cleaning catheter includes an outer shell enclosing a urine lumen. The urine lumen has the ability to be opened and closed with a urine lumen closure device and is formed with a plurality of micro ports and a plurality of macro wash ports. At least one antimicrobial lumen is affixed to the exterior of and in fluid communication with the urine lumen at the plurality of micro ports. Similarly, at least one wash lumen is affixed to the exterior of and in fluid communication with the urine lumen at the plurality of macro wash ports. Antimicrobial solutions and wash solutions are introduced into the urine lumen by the antimicrobial lumen and wash lumen respectively, even during use.
Instrument, instrument head, application system and method
An instrument with a first conduit for emitting a first fluid from a first opening of the first conduit in an axial direction into a reacceleration zone and with a second conduit for channeling of a second fluid in the reacceleration zone in the axial direction is provided such that active ingredient components, e.g. cells, of the second fluid are reaccelerated in the axial direction as a result of a flow in the reacceleration zone by means of the first fluid that enters the reacceleration zone. A coaxial configuration of the first and the second conduit is preferred, because in doing so, around the first opening a shell jet of the second fluid can be created that flows downstream in the axial direction around a central working jet. In addition, a head for an inventive instrument and an application system with an inventive instrument is provided.
Urinary catheter cap
A urinary catheter cap includes a main body that includes a urine introduction passage including a connection hole configured to be connected to a urinary catheter and a drain hole for draining urine, a lid portion that has a tubularly formed portion having a first end portion at the drain hole side and a second end portion at an opposite side and opens and closes the drain hole, a partition portion that divides the tubular portion of the lid portion into a plurality of spaces, and a hydrophobic film that is formed such that the hydrophobic film blocks at least two or more of the spaces at the second end portion of the lid portion. The partition portion may include a partitioning plate that is installed between a plurality of locations of an inner circumferential portion of the tubular portion of the lid portion.
Catheter
A catheter insertable into a urethra for installation in a user's bladder and urethra, the catheter comprising: a urine conduit comprising a first urine inlet and a urine outlet; and an inlet protector extending outwardly from the urine conduit from a position between the first urine inlet and the urine outlet, where the inlet protector functions to protect the urine inlet by separating it from contact with the bladder wall and thus keeping it out of contact with tissue.
