The processing device may also cause transmission of the stored information, via the communications interface, to a location remote from the control unit. The processing device may further be configured to receive an update signal, from the location remote from the control unit, and cause application of an updated control signal to the primary antenna based on the update signal.

An example system can include an electrode assembly comprising at least one electrode configured to be disposed substantially proximate to the patient's skin and configured to at least one of sense an ECG signal of the patient and provide one or more therapeutic pulses to the patient, one or more sensors disposed on the electrode assembly and isolated from the electrode, the sensors configured to measure one or more properties to determine contact between the electrode and the patient's skin, and a controller configured to receive data representing the measured one or more properties and determine, based at least in part on the received data, whether the electrode is in contact with the patient's skin. The sensors can include temperature, impedance, capacitance, optical, and other similar sensors.

Some embodiments of the invention may be related to an apparatus for non-invasive directional tissue treatment. The apparatus includes a radiofrequency (RF) generator and an array of RF energy delivery elements in monopolar configuration, in active communication with the RF generator, at least one of: a return electrode and a return pad, and a power source and a controller. In some embodiments, each of the RF energy delivery elements comprises a monopolar electrode such that each monopolar electrode has a first dimension and a second dimension, the first dimension perpendicular to the second dimension. In some embodiments, the first dimension of each monopolar electrode and the distance between the monopolar electrodes in each pair are configured to create an elongated heated volume of tissue when the RF generator is activated and at least one of the RF delivery elements is in contact with the tissue.

In some aspects, an electronic contact lens for treating dry eye is presented. According to some aspects, the electronic contact lens includes a concave surface configured to conform to an eye of a patient, a sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of an eyelid movement, and at least one capacitor configured to store energy used for stimulating the eye. The electronic contact lens may further include at least two electrodes coupled to the at least one capacitor, wherein the at least two electrodes are exposed to the concave surface and configured to deliver power from the at least one capacitor to stimulate the eye. The electronic contact lens further includes a processor coupled to the sensor and electrodes. The processor may be configured to compute a blink rate from the sensor output, and, based on the blink rate, activate the at least two electrodes to stimulate the eye.
