Fixed wireless access using orthogonal time frequency space modulation

A fixed wireless access system is implemented using orthogonal time frequency space multiplexing (OTFS). Data transmissions to/from different devices share transmission resources using—delay Doppler multiplexing, time-frequency multiplexing, multiplexing at stream and/or layer level, and angular multiplexing. Time-frequency multiplexing is achieved by dividing the time-frequency plan into subgrids, with the subsampled time frequency grid being used to carry the OTFS data. Antenna implementations include a hemispherical antenna with multiple antenna elements arranged in an array to achieve multiplexing.

MAPPING, CHARACTERIZATION AND LOCALIZATION METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR COMMUNICATION NETWORKS

A method of mapping and characterizing a communication network is described. Segments are mapped by having each node of the network sending and receiving messages to discover its partner until the network is fully mapped. Each segment is characterized by sample messages sent along each segment, with received signal level at each end of the segment being measured and used to calculate cable segment parameters. Location tags may have their positions estimated by using signal levels at each end of a leaky cable segment receiving the tag signal to estimate the position of location tag.

Cell acquisition in frequency diversity implementing opportunistic frequency switching for frame based equipment access

Cell acquisition is disclosed in frequency diversity configured for frame based equipment (FBE) access, such as using opportunistic frequency switching. A user equipment (UE) begins cell acquisition by synchronizing to an available communication channel of an available cell in response to detection of a synchronization signal block (SSB) associated with a network on which the UE communicates. The UE receives system information associated with the available cell from a serving base station, wherein the system information includes identification of at least: a link indicator identifying linked communication channels available for opportunistic switching, sensing occasion offsets for each of the linked channels, and access information associated with each of the linked channels. The UE measures a channel quality for each available channel. The base station transmits this system information on each of the linked channels and then monitors the allocated random access resources for signals from the UEs.
