Further, the longitudinal member is extendible through an extension mechanism attached to the spectacle frame.
DEVICE AND METHOD TO ACTIVATE CELL STRUCTURES BY MEANS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC ENERGY
A stimulation system includes an energy source, an electronics unit with a controller, and an actuator that is coupled with the electronics unit and/or the energy source. The actuator emits electromagnetic waves for stimulation of genetically manipulated tissue. The electronics unit is disposed in a housing. The stimulation system is configured for at least temporary implantation in a human or animal body. The controller controls the stimulation of tissue in the body by way of the electromagnetic waves emitted by the actuator. A selector of the stimulation system selects the area of the said tissue for stimulation. The selector includes a masking device for masking certain areas of the tissue, so that an intensity of the stimulation for the masked areas is reduced or equal to zero.
LIGHT THERAPY TREATMENT MODALITY WITH OSCILLATING AND NONOSCILLATING WAVELENGTHS
A method is provided for performing electromagnetic radiation therapy on a subject. The method comprises providing a device which emits electromagnetic radiation, wherein the electromagnetic radiation includes a first portion that oscillates between at least first and second distinct states, and a second non-oscillatory portion; and illuminating the subject with the electromagnetic radiation.
APPARATUS FOR TREATING ATHLETE'S FOOT
An apparatus for treating athlete's foot. The apparatus includes: a main body having at least one body accommodating space part to accommodate a body portion of at least one of a hand and foot; a laser output unit mounted onto the main body, and provided to emit laser light from an upper side to a lower side of the body accommodating space part; and a laser swing unit driven so that the laser output unit swings on the main body, in which the laser output unit includes a first laser diode emitting laser light of a 405 nm wavelength and a second laser diode emitting laser light of a 635 nm wavelength. The apparatus is capable of treating athlete's foot generated on the hand, foot, nails, or toenails by using the light from a laser and/or an LED having a wavelength band useful for treating athlete's foot.
Systems and Methods for Transcranial Light Therapy
Systems and methods for transcranial light therapy address the deficiencies inherent in previous light therapy devices. Improved adjustability of the location, placement, and directionality of the applied light, thereby improving efficiency of transcranial light delivery and facilitating customization of fitment of the light therapy devices to users of differently sized and differently shaped human heads and hair is provided. Improved mechanisms and methods for controlling light therapy application at each of a plurality of light application locations are also provided, such that light therapy treatments can be highly customized for each individual and/or therapy purpose. Simultaneous, sequential, or separate ocular visible light therapy is also available, thereby increasing the options for customized therapy modalities. The therapy devices are highly modular, permitting simplified repair and maintenance of device components upon component failure and allowing unnecessary device components to be removed from the device when not being used, thereby increasing user comfort.
Medical wound healing accelerator and osteomyelitis treatment device
A medical wound healing accelerator having a body that is removably attached on a fixing pin, of an external fixator for fractures, that is insertable into a bone through skin is provided. The device can further include a plurality of light source units arranged on one surface of the body to emit light and provide a beneficial effect to the wound, and a controller electrically connected to the light source units. An osteomyelitis treatment device having an insert that is insertable into an osteomyelitis part in a human body, and a plurality of light-emitting members provided to the insert to emit light is also provided. The plurality of light-emitting members can be spaced apart from each other, and a part of the insert can be cut or bent to correspond to the shape of the osteomyelitis part.
PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY ILLUMINATOR DEVICES AND METHODS
A method of performing photodynamic therapy is provided. The method includes applying, to the skin of a patient, a topical composition. The topical composition includes 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) hydrochloride, and a vehicle comprising at least one chelating agent to enhance accumulation of protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) in the skin. The method further includes incubating the topical composition, and following incubation, applying, to the skin, heat from a heat source for at least a first time period.
METHODS FOR PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY
A method of enhancing penetration of a topical composition of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) into tissue for photodynamic therapy includes topically applying ALA to a treatment area to be treated with photodynamic therapy. The method further includes, after the ALA is applied to the treatment area, covering the treatment area with a low density polyethylene barrier. The treatment area is covered with the low density polyethylene barrier prior to light treatment to minimize transepidermal water loss from the treatment area.
Device and method to activate cell structures by means of electromagnetic energy
An implantable device for implantation in a human body or animal body. The device includes an energy source, an energy storage device, and an electronics unit. Further, an actuator is coupled with the energy storage device and it is configured to emit electromagnetic waves by discharging the energy storage device.
Radiation Treatment Delivery System with Translatable Ring Gantry
Systems, methods, and related computer program products for image-guided radiation treatment (IGRT) are described. For one preferred embodiment, an IGRT apparatus is provided comprising a ring gantry having a central opening and a radiation treatment head coupled to the ring gantry that is rotatable around the central opening in at least a 180 degree arc. For one preferred embodiment, the apparatus further comprises a gantry translation mechanism configured to translate the ring gantry in a direction of a longitudinal axis extending through the central opening. Noncoplanar radiation treatment delivery can thereby be achieved without requiring movement of the patient. For another preferred embodiment, an independently translatable 3D imaging device distinct from the ring gantry is provided for further achieving at least one of pre-treatment imaging and setup imaging of the target tissue volume without requiring movement of the patient.
