Method and apparatus for handling in-device co-existence interference in a user equipment

A method and apparatus for handling in-device co-existence interference in a user equipment are provided. In an exemplary method, a Long Term Evolution (LTE) activity scheduled to be performed during an inactive time period of an LTE module in a user equipment is determined. It is determined whether the LTE module is to be allowed to perform the LTE activity during the inactive time period. If the LTE activity is to be allowed, then the LTE module is allowed to perform the LTE activity during the inactive time period. Otherwise, the LTE module is not allowed to perform the LTE activity during the inactive time period to provide interference free time for an Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) module in the user equipment. Moreover, the disallowed LTE activity is scheduled to be performed during an active time period following the inactive time period.

Methods and apparatus that enable one or more wireless networks to minimize inter-cellular interference (ICI) at a receiver. In one embodiment, the network comprises an OFDM-based cellular network, and the method comprises utilizing a priori knowledge of non-data portions of signals from multiple base stations in order to schedule transmissions. In one variant, these non-data portions comprise pilot tones; the pilot tones can be scheduled onto various time-frequency resources of the network so as to minimize ICI. The mobility context of the receiver can also be used as a basis for dynamically adjusting the pilot tone density. In another variant, precoding (e.g., Tomlinson-Harashima precoding) can be applied to shape the non-data portions of the transmitted signals so as to mitigate ICI. In yet other variants, frame preambles and learning sequences are used as the basis for invoking selective transmission time shifts across the potentially interfering base stations so as to minimize ICI.

An information transmission method includes: determining whether in-device interference may occur in user equipment; if so, acquiring transmission configuration information for avoiding the in-device interference, the transmission configuration information including an adjustment parameter for transmission time intervals; transmitting the transmission configuration information to the user equipment; and scheduling an uplink transmission resource and a downlink transmission resource according to the transmission configuration information, such that the user equipment performs transmission of uplink information within an original transmission time interval in such a way that at least the transmission of control information of downlink scheduling is not interfered.
