Apparatus, systems, articles of manufacture, and methods for viewer authentication are disclosed. An example system includes a comparator to access audio metering data received from a user device and determine a level of exposure of a user of the user device to a program based on the audio metering data. The example system also includes a calculator to determine a weighting score based on the level of exposure. In addition, the example system includes a tallier to access voting data received from the user device for a ballot presented in the program and scale the voting data based on the weighting score.

A system and method for remotely verifying images shown on an electronic display is provided. A video player is electrically connected to the electronic display and causes the images to be displayed thereon. A processor directs a screen capture device to take a screen capture when a particular image is scheduled to be shown on the electronic display. The screen capture is stored on an electronic storage device and may be transferred to a networked database via a network connection device. A client may be able to access the screen captures through a user interface in connectivity with the networked database.

Methods and apparatus for transmitting audience measurement data or interactive data via a compressed data bitstream are disclosed. Example methods disclosed herein include eliminating a first type of data within a compressed data bitstream, and packing a second type of data within the compressed data bitstream to occupy a first location within the compressed data bitstream from which the first type of data is eliminated. Disclosed example methods also include inserting at least one of audience measurement data or interactive data in a second location within the compressed data bitstream that is expanded as a result of the packing of the second type of data to form a modified compressed data bitstream, and transmitting the modified compressed data bitstream.

An example method involves receiving a video frame and detecting a change in box-formatting between the video frame and a subsequent video frame. A transition between the video frame and the subsequent video frame is indicated as a commercial advertisement transition based on the detected change in box-formatting.

In one instance, an apparatus for determining effectiveness of an advertisement may include a digital device matching engine, communicatively coupled to the processors, to receive and process information obtained from a web site accessed by a digital device, and to match the digital device to a TV set, based at least in part on the processed information. The apparatus may further include a conversion determination engine, communicatively coupled to the processors, to determine a level of conversion associated with an advertisement rendered by a broadcasting media to the TV set, based at least in part on the matching of the digital device to the TV set. The apparatus may be configured to provide recommendations to advertisement regarding the effectiveness of their advertising campaign. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

Methods and apparatus for monitoring locally inserted media are disclosed. A disclosed method includes detecting, at a media device at a media presentation location, a cue in media received at the media device; in response to the detection of the cue, receiving separately form the media an advertisement associated with a user of the media device; presenting, by the media device, the media at a first time and the advertisement at a second time indicated by the detected cue; responsive to presenting the advertisement at the second time, recording a log including first identifying information for the media and second identifying information for the advertisement; and transmitting the log to a data collection facility.

Methods and apparatus for inserting audience measurement data or interactive data into a compressed data bitstream are disclosed. An example apparatus disclosed herein includes a parser to access compressed audio data packets from a compressed data bitstream, a time shifter to time shift the compressed audio data packets in data frames of the compressed data bitstream to occupy locations of the data frames from which skip bytes are eliminated, and an inserter to insert at least one of audience measurement data or interactive data into auxiliary data fields of the data frames that increase in size due to the time shifting the compressed audio data.

There is provided a contents display apparatus capable of receiving signage data including contents from a contents management apparatus, the contents display apparatus including: an alternative contents storage unit which receives alternative contents from the contents management apparatus and stores the alternative contents; an acknowledgement unit which causes the contents management apparatus to acknowledge validity of the signage data; and a contents display unit which displays contents based on the signage data in a case where the validity of the signage data is acknowledged by the acknowledgement unit and displays the alternative contents in other cases.

There is provided a contents display apparatus capable of receiving signage data including contents from a contents management apparatus, the contents display apparatus including: an alternative contents storage unit which receives alternative contents from the contents management apparatus and stores the alternative contents; an acknowledgement unit which causes the contents management apparatus to acknowledge validity of the signage data; and a contents display unit which displays contents based on the signage data in a case where the validity of the signage data is acknowledged by the acknowledgement unit and displays the alternative contents in other cases.
