In one embodiment, a method includes receiving SRS received from a plurality of UEs associated with the base station from an RU associated with the base station, estimating strengths or signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) for pre-determined beams for each of the plurality of UEs based on the received SRS, selecting a subset of the plurality of UEs to which downlink data is to be transmitted for a RBG in a TTI based on the estimated strengths or SNRs of the pre-determined beams for the plurality of UEs, computing a precoding matrix for the RBG based on the selected subset, preparing multi-layered UE data for the RBG based on the selected subset and the computed precoding matrix, sending the multi-layered UE data and the precoding matrix for the RBG to the RU, where the RU transmits pre-coded multi-layered UE data to the UEs in the subset using MIMO technologies.

A transmitting UE may encode a packet using an MCS that is greater than a normal MCS that may be used for encoding the packet without network coding. The transmitting UE may then transmit the encoded packet to one or more receiving UEs and a network coding device over a sidelink data channel. The transmitting UE may further transmit a network coding request flag associated with the packet to initiate one or more retransmissions of the packet by the network coding device.

This invention discloses a multimode interconnection interface controller for a converged network, which comprises a SERDES element responsible for serial/parallel conversion, a LANE_TXCLK element responsible for generating a transmit clock, a SERDES initialization element responsible for link training and rate negotiation, and a PCS_EB coding element and an PCS_AF coding element responsible for physical layer coding of messages. The link training and rate negotiation are completed automatically via the shared SERDES initialization element. More universality and flexibility are provided for interconnection chip design by the PCS_EB coding element. The PCS_AF coding element is provided to reduce message penetration delay. The multimode interconnection interface controller is integrated in a single chip. Through flexible configuration, the single chip can meet transmission requirements of dedicated high speed networks and Ethernet networks. The multimode interconnection interface controller also supports interconnection of data center Ethernet and high performance computing high speed network.

With increasingly dense wireless traffic in 5G and 6G networks, the incidence of message faults due to interference is increasing, leading to wasted time and energy on multiple re-transmissions. Disclosed are procedures for assembling a fault-free copy of a message from two corrupted copies. First, measure the modulation quality of each message element. A faulted message element usually has poor modulation quality. Then, select the best message elements from each of the two corrupted copies, and test the merged version against an embedded error-detection code. If the merged copy still fails the test, select each of the message elements that are different in the two faulted copies since they are all suspicious, and test each version with the error-detection code. By recovering a message despite reception errors, another transmission is avoided, saving time and energy, and avoiding contributing yet further to the background noise. Many additional aspects are disclosed.
