ENHANCED SIMPLE NETWORK MANAGEMENT PROTOCOL (SNMP) CONNECTOR

Techniques are described for automating the configuration of a simple network management protocol (SNMP) manager device for enabling collection of SNMP data from one or more SNMP-enabled devices. Based upon SNMP object identifiers (OIDs) received from an SNMP-enabled device, processing is performed to map the OIDs to one or more SNMP management information bases (MIBs) corresponding to the OIDs. The identification of the OIDs and mapping the OIDs to one or more MIBs is performed in an automated manner and substantially free of any human or manual intervention. The identified one or more MIBs are then used to configure the SNMP manager to enable SNMP communications between the SNMP-enabled device and the SNMP manager. In certain implementations, the identified one or more MIBs are loaded into system memory by the SNMP manager.

A method and apparatus for managing a managed device on a network. An agent is run on the managed device. During runtime of the agent on the managed device, the agent receives dynamic trap parameter update values from network management station software running on a manager computer. The agent uses the dynamic trap parameter update values to set dynamic trap parameter values including trigger parameter values defining conditions for sending a dynamic trap. After setting the dynamic trap parameter values, the agent monitors the managed device to identify occurrence of an event that satisfies the conditions defined by the trigger parameter values. In response to identifying the occurrence of the event, the agent sends the dynamic trap to the network management station software running on the manager computer.

A computing system includes persistent storage configured to store representations of software applications that include textual data respectively indicative of attributes of the software applications, and a mapping application configured to perform operations. The operations include retrieving a representation corresponding to a software application and, based thereon, identifying character strings present within textual data associated therewith. The operations also include generating, for each character string, a corresponding weight based on a frequency of the character string within the particular textual data and a frequency of the character string within textual data associated with at least a subset of the software applications. The operations additionally include selecting, from the character strings and based on the corresponding weights, candidate tags for the particular software application. The operations further include generating a mapping between the software application and a computing resource based on the candidate tags, and storing a representation of the mapping.

Communications network

The invention relates to a communication network for an aircraft comprising at least one processing member and a first switch which is connected to the first processing member in order to provide data exchange within the first processing member and/or between the first processing member and at least one user terminal remote from the first processing member and connected to the first switch. According to the invention, the first switch comprises local means for observing logical communication channels of the first switch, and the first processing member includes means for controlling said observation means.

A multi-tenant application that provides high speed data services to one or more subscriber devices. The multi-tenant application comprises one or more first servers that each perform packet switching and routing and one or more second servers that each perform FCAPS functions for the one or more subscriber devices. FCAPS functions comprise fault operations, configuration operations, accounting operations, performance operations, and security operations. Each of the one or more first and second servers are implemented entirely within an application-specific logical host composed of one or more application containers. The one or more second servers may optionally each further perform network functions and user plane functions for the one or more subscriber devices. The one or more second servers may optionally each further perform OLT control functions and OLT MAC/PHY functions for the one or more subscriber devices.

Extension to software defined networking to manage storage area networks

Embodiments of the invention are directed to utilizing an extension to software defined networking (SDN) to manage storage area networks (SANs) by receiving, at a switch configured with and managed by a SDN architecture, at least one table. The at least one table being operable in the SDN architecture and including routing information. The switch routes traffic over a SAN using the routing information in the at least one table.

Managing storage volume in a virtual computing infrastructure

Techniques are provided for authorizations in a virtual computing infrastructure using a federation token service. The techniques may include receiving a request for a launch plan from a user for launching instances in a plurality of sites, determining object permissions required for actions to be performed to launch one or more of the instances at each site of the plurality of sites, contacting an authorization caching service to obtain authorization tokens for each of the determined object permissions required for the actions, receiving the authorization tokens for each of the determined object permissions required for the actions, and forwarding the request to each site of the plurality of sites with an authentication token and the authorization tokens for each of the determined object permissions required for the actions to be performed to launch the one or more of the instances at each site of the plurality of sites.

Parallel execution of network services with overlapping device configuration

Techniques, methods, and systems for managing a set of data network nodes in a Network Management System (NMS). In some examples, a method may include receiving, at the network orchestrator, a service invocation for a service transaction associated with a transaction object; storing, by the network orchestrator, service metadata as part of the transaction object; determining whether there is a service metadata conflict associated with the transaction object; and in response to determining that there is the service metadata conflict associated with the transaction object, retrying the service transaction; or in response to determining that there is no service metadata conflict associated with the transaction object, applying the service metadata to one or more nodes of the set of data nodes.
