20220407785 · 2022-12-22 · ·

The disclosure relates to a method, executed by an NFV-MANO, for providing a requested Service Availability Level (SAL) for a Network Service (NS). The method comprises at each of a plurality of layers of the NFV-MANO, mapping the requested SAL to a SAL that needs to be provided by a lower layer of the NFV-MANO. The method comprises propagating the mapped requested SAL through interfaces between layers of the NFV-MANO, from an NFVO towards a VIM. The method comprises receiving an estimated SAL′ for the NS based on virtual resources (VR) allocated by the VIM for satisfying the requested SAL. The method comprises, upon determining that the estimated SAL′ does not satisfy the requested SAL, taking actions to meet the requested SAL, or upon determining that the estimated SAL′ satisfies the requested SAL taking no further actions.

Arbitration method and related apparatus

This application discloses an arbitration method and a related apparatus. The method includes: detecting, by the first ABS apparatus, first status information of a service module in the first DC; when determining that a communication link between the first DC and the second DC is faulty, obtaining, by the first ABS apparatus, second status information, wherein the second status information is status information that is of a service module in the second DC and that is detected by the second ABS apparatus; and arbitrating, by the first ABS apparatus, a subsequent service providing capability of the first DC based on the first status information and the second status information.

Network function virtualization compute element image upgrade
11516095 · 2022-11-29 · ·

A network function virtualization (NFV) compute element installs an image supporting a virtualized network function (VNF) on the element. The image includes instructions/data to initiate a TCP connection between the element and a Software Defined Network (SDN) controller upon reboot of the element. Upon rebooting, the element establishes, as client in accordance with the instructions/data, a TCP connection with the controller. The element then accepts, as a cryptographic network protocol server, a connection via the TCP connection from the controller as a client in accordance with the instructions. Next, the element accepts, as a network management protocol server, a connection via the cryptographic network protocol connection from the controller as network management protocol client. The element receives, from the controller over the network management protocol connection, commands regarding the status of the rebooted element, and then transmits, to the controller over the network management protocol connection, responses to the commands.

Management network organization approach for clustered and federated storage systems

A method, computer program product, and computing system for use in a clustered storage system are provided. Embodiments may include providing, using a management network, one or more of external access to the clustered storage system, management of intra-cluster traffic, management of hypervisor traffic, and access to infrastructure services. Embodiments may further include allowing, using a storage network, access to the clustered storage system from within the clustered storage system and one or more external hosts. Embodiments may also include providing a migration network to allow for mobility of one or more virtual machines within clustered storage system. Embodiments may further include splitting the management network into a public management network and an internal intra-cluster management network.

Examples of the present disclosure can include a method. The method may include (1) identifying, by a virtual infrastructure manager (“VIM”), a virtual network function (“VNF”) descriptor from information obtained from the integrated network, (2) selectively generating at least one container on the physical network based on the VNF descriptor, (3) determining, by the VIM, an integrated network requirement based on state information associated with the integrated network, (4) providing, by the VIM, to a container management platform, the integrated network requirement, and (5) causing a VNF to be generated in the container to fulfill the integrated network requirement. Corresponding systems, non-transitory computer-readable media, and methods are also disclosed.

Network service management device, network service management method, and network service management program

[Problem] A lead time for providing a network service can be shortened. [Solution] A network service management apparatus 100 that uses resources included in a network functions virtualization infrastructure 140 to provide a network service includes an orchestrator 110 that defines resources that satisfy a resource requirement of a virtual network function constituting the network service and are allocated to the virtual network function, and reserves the resources, and a virtualized infrastructure manager 130 that secures the reserved resources, activates the virtual network function on the secured resources, and generates the network service. When the securing of the reserved resources fails, the orchestrator 110 re-reserves resources to replace the reserved resources, and the virtualized infrastructure manager 130 secures the re-reserved resources, and activates the virtual network functions on the secured resources.

Dynamic discovery of peer network devices across a Wide Area Network

A network controller can register WAN edge routers and WAN optimizers distributed across a WAN. The controller can receive a request to establish a WAN optimized connection between first and second hosts. The controller can identify a first WAN optimizer to perform first services (e.g., de-duplication, compression, application acceleration, caching, etc.) for first traffic from the first host to the second host and first complementary services for second traffic from the second host to the first host, and a second WAN optimizer for the second traffic and second complementary services for the first traffic. The controller can establish the optimized connection comprising a first path including the first host, WAN optimizer, and router; a second path including the first router and a second router, and a third path including the second router, WAN optimizer, and host. The controller can route the first and second traffic through the optimized connection.
