Operating system supporting cost aware applications
A mobile computing device that supports cost-aware application components for operation over a metered network. A current basis for computing usage charges over one or more networks may be made available to the cost-aware application components through an application programming interface supported by an operating system service. That service may receive a policy for charging for data usage over a network and may also obtain information defining data usage for the mobile computing device. Based on this information, the service may determine a current basis for charging for data usage. With this information, the application component can determine a manner for executing network operations that involve data transmission over the network, such as deferring the operation or selecting an alternative network.
Method and system for implementing dual network telemetry application programming interface (API) framework
Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing network application programming interface (API), and, more particularly, implementing dual network telemetry API framework. In some embodiments, a computing system might receive first network telemetry data from a first network via a gateway API, might receive second network telemetry data from one or more second networks via a network API, and might analyze the first network telemetry data and the second network telemetry data to determine first instructions to send to the first network and to determine second instructions to send to the one or more second networks. The computing system might send the first instructions to first nodes in the first network to cause the first nodes to perform at least one first action and send the second instructions to each second network to cause the second nodes in each second networks to perform at least one second action.

APPLICATION PROGRAMMING INTERFACE (API) TO PROVIDE NETWORK METRICS AND NETWORK RESOURCE CONTROL TO USERS
Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing network application programming interface (API), and, more particularly, API to provide network metrics and network resource control to users. In some embodiments, a computing system might receive customer network telemetry data from a first network via a gateway API, might receive service provider network telemetry data from a second network(s) via a network API, might compile the customer network telemetry data and the service provider network telemetry data, might receive a request from a user to access information regarding network services associated with the user, might filter the compiled customer network telemetry data and the compiled service provider network telemetry data to isolate first telemetry data and second telemetry data, respectively, might provide the user with access to at least one of the first telemetry data or the second telemetry data, and might provide the user with options to control network resources.
Charging apparatus, method, system, and non-transitory medium
User identification information for identifying a user of a first terminal connecting to a communication network of a virtual communication operator via a communication network of a first communication operator is specified, and, based on the user identification information, charging for communication of the first terminal and charging for a service that the virtual communication operator is enabled to provide to the user identified by the user identification information are managed.
Data-Plan-Based Quality Setting Suggestions and Use Thereof to Manage Content Provider Services
A user device described herein suggests a change to a quality setting associated with the consumption of content from one or more content providers. The change is suggested based both on a user's data plan and on a service quality of content received by the user device. This user-selected quality setting is then provided to the telecommunication network, which reduces network resources available for transmission of the content based on the quality setting. Such reduced network resources cause the content providers to provide content at a service quality no greater than the quality setting. Also, the user may be presented with or defaulted to selecting an option for a program offering consumption of the video content free of charge when provided to the user at a limited service quality. When the user participates, consumption of video content is then conditionally excluded from a consumption metric of the data plan.

Service design center for device assisted services
A technique involves modular storage of network service plan components and provisioning of same. A subset of the capabilities of a service design system can be granted to a sandbox system to enable customization of service plan offerings or other controls.
TOLL-FREE NUMBERS METADATA TAGGING, ANALYSIS AND REPORTING
A method for reducing costs associated with fraudulent call activity is provided. The method includes receiving data associated with usage of a telecommunications number. The method further includes analyzing the data to determine that the usage of the telecommunications number is indicative of a fraudulent call activity. The method further includes assigning a call route to the telecommunications number adapted to reduce a cost associated with the fraudulent call activity.
