An instruction apparatus that instructs a processing apparatus to perform a process includes an information acquiring unit, an apparatus-information transmitting unit, and a display. The information acquiring unit acquires information on the processing apparatus. An information processing system includes a first information processing apparatus and a second information processing apparatus that use setting information. The first information processing apparatus includes a transmission unit that transmits information including at least function identification information and user identification information to the second information processing apparatus, the function identification information identifying a function for which first setting information is used, and the user identification information identifying a user associated with the function identification information. The second information processing apparatus includes a request unit that makes a request for the first setting information to the first information processing apparatus in a case where second setting information is stored in the second information processing apparatus; and an update unit that updates the second setting information in accordance with the first setting information that has been transmitted from the first information processing apparatus.

A system and method for servicing of devices includes a processor, associated memory and a user interface including a display. A display generator generates images on the display. The memory stores device data for each of a plurality of serviceable devices. Device data for each device includes a unique device identifier and associated device status data. The display generator is displays an image including a device data list on the display. The user interface receives filter data from an associated user and the processor generates a subset of the device data in accordance with received filter data. The processor generates a label corresponding to the subset and stores the label in the memory. The processor further receives a device inquiry from the associated user via the user interface, and the display generator generates a labeled display image including the label responsive to a received device inquiry.

This invention relates to an imaging apparatus and an imaging method for supplying an optimum amount of image data to another apparatus. When a PDA 91 has a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps, a mobile phone 1 determines that a maximum speed of communication with the PDA 91 is low, reduces accordingly the amount of moving image data captured by a CCD of the mobile phone, and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA 91. The PDA 91 displays a low-quality moving image 93 on its display unit. When the PDA 91 has a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbps, the CPU of the mobile phone leaves unchanged the amount of moving picture data captured by the CCD and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA 91. The PDA 91 then displays a high-quality moving image 94 on the display unit. This invention applies advantageously to digital cameras.

A service providing system includes a client apparatus that gives an instruction to provide a service according to an operation of the client apparatus by a user, a mobile apparatus that receives the instruction to provide the service, moves to the user who has performed the operation, performs authentication of the user, and provides the service to the user, and a stationary apparatus that is placed on a fixed position and provides a service. In a case where the authentication of the user fails although the mobile apparatus receives the instruction to provide the service and moves to the user who has performed the operation, the mobile apparatus stops the providing of the service and entrusts the stationary apparatus with the providing of the service.

An information processing apparatus includes a display control unit, a generation unit, and a notification unit. The display control unit displays a device for executing a particular function on a display device. The displayed device includes separate webpages and the separate webpages include a webpage for setting to make the particular function usable. In response to a user selecting the device displayed on the display device, the generation unit generates a uniform resource locator (URL). The generated URL represents the webpage for setting to make the particular function usable. The notification unit notifies the URL generated by the generation unit to a web browser included in the information processing apparatus.
