A display capable of communicating with a server includes: an auxiliary storage that stores character information of a specific language, the character information including a character string contained in a screen when the screen is displayed; an acceptor that accepts selection of a language to be used in displaying the screen; a receiver that receives a translation result obtained by translating the character information of the specific language into a new language from the server when the language, selection of which has been accepted by the acceptor, is the new language different from the specific language; a hardware processor that stores, in the auxiliary storage, character information of the new language, the character information being created based on the translation result received by the receiver; and a display part that displays the screen based on the character information of the new language.

An information processing apparatus includes a memory that stores an application and a module related to an operation of the application, and circuitry configured to detect a difference between a first character string included in a first file associated with the application and a second character string included in a second file associated with the module as difference information, the second character string corresponding to the first character string, transmit the difference information indicating the detected difference to a server, and update the second file in accordance with an update notification of the second file transmitted from the server.

The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for localizing a user interface of a device such as a multi-function device, the multi-function device presents a user interface in a pre-defined language. The method includes receiving a document, the document includes text information in a local language of a user. Then, the document is analyzed to identify the local language of the user. Upon identification, the pre-defined language of the user interface is changed to the identified local language of the user. The local language enables the user to operate the multi-function and/or perform one or more functions using the local language.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming device forming an image indicated by print data on a recording sheet; and a control device including a processor and functioning, through the processor executing a control program, as a controller configured to: extract text contained in the print data to determine a kind of a language of the text extracted; determine, for each determined kind of the language, whether to record the text consisting of the language of the determined kind; and when determining that the text is to be recorded, cause the image forming device to image form the text consisting of the language of the determined kind on the recording sheet, and, when determining that the text is not to be recorded, not to cause the image forming device to image form the text consisting of the language of the determined kind on the recording sheet.

A method for automatically running a command from a note sheet detachably attached to a document includes scanning the document with the note sheet, automatically detaching the note sheet from the document, scanning the note sheet separately from the note-sheet-detached document and, recognizing text written on the scanned note sheet, extracting one or more commands from a database corresponding to the recognized text, and automatically running the one or more commands for executing one or more corresponding image-processing jobs on the note-sheet-detached document.

An audio-based operation system includes an audio input-output device that receives an audio-based operation performed by a user, a server that receives an instruction corresponding the audio-based operation received by the audio input-output device, an image forming apparatus that executes a job transmitted from the server. The server includes circuitry configured to receive audio-based operation information indicating the audio-based operation received by the audio input-output device, convert the received audio-based operation information into a job interpretable by the image forming apparatus, and instruct the image forming apparatus to execute the job converted from the audio-based operation information.

A printer includes a print engine, a processor, and a memory. The print engine is configured to print an image on a print medium. The memory stores instructions, the instructions, when executed by the processor, causing the printer to perform: in a case where a plurality of layers is included in a document file that is acquired from one of a storage medium connected to the printer and an apparatus configured to communicate with the printer, determining whether the plurality of layers includes a selection target layer that is a layer corresponding to a same language as a language indicated by language information acquired from an information source; in response to determining that the plurality of layers includes the selection target layer, determining a layer including the selection target layer as a print target layer; and controlling the print engine to print the print target layer.

An image processing apparatus includes: a processor; a first interface that acquires information for user authentication; a second interface that acquires information for user identification; and a memory that stores a customization information table defining information for customizing an operation screen displayed on the first interface. The processor displays: when the first interface acquires the information for the user authentication, an operation screen customized, using the customization information table, for a user authenticated through the user authentication as the operation screen, and when the first interface does not acquire the information for the user authentication, an operation screen customized, using the customization information table, for a user identified by the information acquired by the second interface as the operation screen.

An information processing apparatus, an information processing method, and a non-transitory recording medium. The information processing apparatus searches for one or more pieces of data including name information, receives an operation from a user, controls a user interface to display a plurality of first operation components indicating initials of the name information, in response to the operation on a particular one of the first operation components, controls the user interface to display one or more second operation components associated with the particular first operation component simultaneously with the first operation component, and in response to the operation on a particular one of the second operation components, control the user interface to display the data including the name information associated with the particular second operation component.

In an image forming apparatus, a storage unit contains, by each of a plurality of languages that are respectively associated with each direction of slide operations, a character string. A display controller causes a display unit to display, on a screen, an instruction-receiving image to be touched through a touch panel. When a slide operation is performed on a non-operational region where the instruction-receiving image is not located, the character string of the language associated with the direction of the slide operation is retrieved from the storage unit, and a selected-language window is generated by substituting the character string displayed on the screen of the display unit with the character string that has been retrieved, and displayed only for a predetermined period of time.
