An exercise device. The exercise device includes an elongated member with a pair of grooves disposed at opposing ends. A pair of tension screws are utilized to slidably secure a pair of clamps to opposing ends of the elongated member. The pair of clamps slidably adjust along the length of the elongated member by traveling along the grooves. The clamps secure the elongated member to an opening, such as a door frame. The elongated member further includes a pair of recessed portions. The recessed portions are configured to curve around a soleus portion of a user's legs. A pair of straps affixed to opposing ends of each recessed portion removably secure about a front of the user's legs. In one embodiment, the elongated member is hingedly divided into two parts, wherein each part includes a clamp slidably secured thereto and a recessed portion, thereby providing a storage configuration.

An isolation bar for a chin-up or pull-up bar extends parallel or at an acute angle (angled facing upwards) and is below a grasping region of the chin-up or pull-up device. The isolation bar can be hung from the chin-up or pull-up bar by way of cables/elongated straps or be fixed to a door frame, wall mounted, or free standing device with the grasping region. In use, the forearms of a user are pushed against the isolation bar while carrying out a chin-up or pull-up.

Exercise devices and methods with retractable cords

An exercise apparatus includes a first cord, a second cord, and an adjustment mechanism. The first cord is pullable from and retractable around a first pulley. The second cord is pullable from and retractable around a second pulley. The adjustment mechanism allows for adjusting a pull-out tension provided by the first cord independently of a retraction tension provided by the first cord. The pull-out tension provided by the first cord is a tension provided by the first cord when the first cord is pulled from the first pulley. The retraction tension provided by the first cord is a tension provided by the first cord when the first cord is retracted around the first pulley.

The exercise further includes a handle. The handle includes a first segment, the first segment placed around at least some of the first portion and a second segment extending perpendicularly from the first segment and rotates relative to the first portion.

A cross bar has a retractable spring pin protruding from the bar so that the spring pin may engage a frame element to limit axial excursion of the bar. Two such spring pins may be included in the bar, so that with the frame elements including apertures having pin-receiving pockets, one type of bar may rotate freely while another type of bar is prevented from rotation.
