Systems and methods realize the benefit of portable storage devices by taking advantage of PCs including an optical disk drive, optical disks, such as a CD or a DVD, and the Internet. An individual patient provides personal data to a healthcare service center. The healthcare service center can then create a portable optical disk for the patient to carry. The personal data written onto the portable optical disk is stored on a database management server database and is readable and updateable by the individual patient using his/her PC with an optical disk drive and connected to the Internet. The individual patient can choose to update his/her personal data on the portable optical disk and can receive a new portable optical disk that includes the update. The new portable optical disk containing the latest update is created and delivered to the patient by the database management server.

According to aspects of the present disclosure, in a memory of an MFP, information indicating that an additional function, which is inactivated when shipped from a factory, is activated or inactivated is stored. The MFP starts a trial mode in which trial of the additional function is activated, then the additional function becomes activated within an effective period of the trial mode. The MFP is configured to receive an input of setting information used for the additional function, store the input setting information in the memory and execute a process of the additional function in accordance with the setting information. Further, when the trial mode is terminated, the MFP initializes the setting information in a case where the stored information indicates that the additional function is inactivated, but does not initialize the setting information in a case where the stored information indicates that the additional function is activated.

Reading apparatus and reading control method
A reading apparatus includes a transport unit, a multi-feed detection unit, a reading unit, and a controller. When a multi-feed of the document is detected by the multi-feed detection unit, the controller multi-feeds causes the transport unit to discharge, downstream of the transport path, a multi-fed document for which the multi-feed is detected and then temporarily stops the transport, stores multi-fed page information indicating a page number of the multi-fed document, restarts the transport after the temporary stop, and after the reading unit reads a remaining document whose page succeeds a page of the multi-fed document, performs a re-reading process including the transporting and the reading of the multi-fed document, respectively, and inserts, based on the multi-fed page information, second read data acquired by the reading in the re-reading process into first read data acquired by the reading completed before the re-reading process.
Method and apparatus for storing data in mobile terminal
An apparatus and method for storing an image in a storage folder corresponding to a file name in a mobile device are provided. The method includes obtaining a keyword list by analyzing a file name of the data to be stored, searching for at least one storage folder having a folder name corresponding to at least one keyword included in the keyword list, determining one of the found storage folders, and storing the data in the determined storage folder.

The image forming apparatus includes: a controller that receives the image and performs control to store the image in a storage device provided in the image forming apparatus; a presentation unit that presents a menu for outputting the image stored in the storage device in a case where a failure occurs in a communication line; and an output unit that outputs the image stored in the storage device in accordance with operation of an operator.

An image processing apparatus reads an image depicted on paper to create image data of the image and saves the image data in a storage; selects an intermediary from among one or more servers based on an e-mail address designated; sends location data indicating a saving location of the image data or the image data to the intermediary in order to provide a terminal with the image data via the intermediary; sends, to the e-mail address, an message including access information for accessing the location data or the image data saved to the intermediary; and sends, when the intermediary is accessed by the terminal based on the access information and requests the image data, and further, when data corresponding to the access information is the location data, the image data to the requesting server.

An image forming device includes a communicator that receives a series of image data, a timer that measures a reception time of each of the series of image data, and a storage that temporarily stores the image data received before forming an image based on the series of image data. When the communicator receives image data, and subsequently does not receive the next image data within a predetermined reception time, the controller obtains the time difference between the time of the reception end of the series of image data, and the reception time of the image data last received by the communicator, determines that the last received image data may be incomplete image data when the time difference is greater than or equal to a predetermined time, and determines whether to form an image based on the image data stored in the storage according to the determination.
