AUTOMATED ENHANCEMENT OF PRINTED DOCUMENTS
An MFD is disclosed. For example, the MFD includes a printhead to dispense print material, an enhancement printhead to dispense an enhancement printing fluid, a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions. The instructions when executed by the processor cause the processor to perform operations that include determining that an automated enhancement feature was selected, analyzing each pixel of an image to be printed to determine one or more pixels that are to receive the enhancement printing fluid, controlling the printhead to print the image, and controlling the enhancement printhead to dispense the enhancement printing fluid on the one or more pixels that are to receive the enhancement printing fluid.
System and method for printing colored media when input color matches media color
A system and method are provided which enable a print media color to be used, as a replacement for a mixture of one or more colorants, in rendering portions of a print job. One or more multidimensional look-up tables are provided. Each table provides for an identified input color, in a device-independent space, to be equated to no colorant, when printed on the respective print media. The identified input color is one of a set of input colors, which, when printed and measured, has an output color that is closest to a measured color of the print media.
DATA HIDING FOR SPOT COLORS ON SUBSTRATES
The present disclosure relates generally to data hiding for retail product packaging and other printed objects such as substrates. One embodiment embeds an information signal in a spot color for printing on various substrates. The spot color is screened, and overprinted with process color tint. The tint is modulated prior to overprinting with optimized signal tweaks. The optimization can include consideration of a detector spectral dependency (e.g., red and/or green illumination). Many other embodiments and combinations are described in the subject patent document.
A FIXED COLOR IMAGE INCLUDING PIXELS AND METHOD OF MAKING THE COLOR IMAGE
A recorded and fixed color image, including: a plurality of pixels; in which a pixel, of the plurality of pixels, contains two or more additive process color areas; in which each additive process color area, of the two or more additive process color areas, has a centroid located within an area of the pixel; in which locations of the centroids, within the area of the pixel, are present in two or more configurations in the plurality of pixels is disclosed. A method of forming a color image is also disclosed.
Mapping between color spaces
Certain examples described herein relate to mapping between an input color space and an output color space. In some cases, data representing a set of candidate output color values in the output color space is obtained for a transition region between two input color values in the input color space. A sub-region of the transition region is defined, the sub-region being associated with a target colorimetry and a target value of a metric. An output color value is selected from the set of candidate output color values. The output value has an associated value of the metric and an associated colorimetry. The selecting is based on the associated colorimetry and the target colorimetry, and the value of the metric and the target value of the metric. In some cases, mapping data is generated by assigning the selected output color value to the sub-region.
Information processing apparatus, information processing method, and storage medium
In a predetermined look-up table, in which each of a plurality of grid points that are defined by dividing each axis of RGB color coordinates is associated with a combination of density values respectively corresponding to a plurality of inks to be used by a printing apparatus, the plurality of grid points include a plurality of first grid points, at which a density value of a predetermined ink among the plurality of inks does not correspond to 0, and a second grid point, at which the density value of the predetermined ink corresponds to 0, and the plurality of first grid points do not exist at points adjacent to each other in the plurality of grid points.
RE-COLORING OF COLORED THREADS
A system and methods are provided for repurposing a colored thread, including determining a base-to-target ink formula that specifies proportions of one or more inks to apply in re-coloring the colored thread from a base color to a target color.
CALCULATING COLOR DATA FOR INSPECTION BY CONVERTING NORMAL AND SPOT COLOR PRINT DATA INTO COLOR SPACE OF DECREASED COLORS AND COMBINING CONVERTED COLOR DATA
An image processing apparatus includes a processor configured to calculate color data for inspection by converting printing data that is data as a base of an image to be printed and includes a normal color which is a normally used color and a spot color which is a color other than the normal color, into color data of another color space in which the number of colors is decreased, for each of the printing data of the normal color and the printing data of the spot color and then, combining the color data after the conversion, and output the calculated color data for inspection.
Printing apparatus and method for generating color chart data
A printing apparatus includes a control unit configured to generate color chart data, a transport unit configured to intermittently transport a medium, a printing unit configured to print a colorimetric patches on a processing unit region, a drying unit configured to dry the processing unit region, and a colorimetric unit configured to measure a color of the colorimetric patches in the processing unit region subjected to the drying, wherein the control unit is configured to acquire, based on a printing setting, a drying holding time during which the processing unit region is held at the drying unit, calculate a color-measurable patch number which is measurable by the colorimetric unit within the drying holding time, and generate the color chart data for printing a number of the colorimetric patches in the processing unit region, the number being less than or equal to the color-measurable patch number.
DROP-BASED REMEDIAL ACTIONS FOR A PRINTHEAD
In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, a method, system, and non-transitory machine-readable storage medium are described. A drop characteristic measurement of a drop of print fluid ejected from a printhead is detected. The drop characteristic measurement includes at least one of a drop velocity and a drop weight. The drop characteristic measurement is compared against a threshold value. When the drop characteristic measurement is beyond the threshold value, a remedial action is triggered.
