SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USING VIDEO METADATA TO ASSOCIATE ADVERTISEMENTS THEREWITH
A system for using metadata from a video signal to associate advertisements therewith, comprising (i) a segmentation system to divide the video signal into video clips, (ii) a digitizing system for digitizing the video clips, (iii) a feature extraction system for extracting audio and video features from each video clip, associating each audio feature with respective video clips, associating each video feature with respective video clips, and saving the audio and video features into an associated metadata file, (iv) a web interface to the feature extraction system for receiving the video clips, and (v) a database, wherein video signals and associated metadata files are stored and indexed, wherein the associated metadata file is provided when a video player requests the corresponding video signal, enabling selection of a relevant advertisement for presentment in conjunction with respective video clips based on the associated audio and video features of the respective video clip.
Delivering auxiliary content and determining proper engagement response
A computer implemented method for detecting user engagement with auxiliary content consumed by a user at a viewing device, the method comprising, at the viewing device generating requests for auxiliary content associated with media content selected by the user to be consumed; receiving auxiliary content from an auxiliary content store and playing out the auxiliary content to the user; displaying at least one user engagement element associated with the auxiliary content, the user engagement element defining an expected user activity; generating user engagement data based on the engagement of a user with the user engagement element in accordance with the expected user activity, and formulating a message to be transmitted to an auxiliary content controller, the messaging including a user identifier and the user engagement data.
Method and apparatus for managing data subsidies in a communication system
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method, including, for each configuration of a client device of a media content service, accessing a headend of the media content service, and for each media content item of a plurality of media content items accessible via the headend of the media content service, receiving a media content identifier associated with the media content item, sending the media content identifier to an advertising server, receiving, from the advertising server, a set of advertising items associated with the media content identifier, where each advertising item of the set of advertising items includes advertising locator information, and aggregating the set of advertising locator information associated with the media content identifier to generate a plurality of advertising locators associated with the plurality of media content items, and, in turn, storing the plurality of advertising locators associated with the plurality of media content items accessible via the headend of the media content service according to the configuration of the client device as a manifest of advertising items for the configuration of the client device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Providing Load Balanced Secure Media Content and Data Delivery in a Distributed Computing Environment
A system and method for providing load balanced secure media content and data delivery in a distributed computing environment is disclosed. Media content is segmented and encrypted into a set of individual encrypted segments on a centralized control center. Each individual encrypted segment has the same fixed size. The complete set of individual encrypted segments is staged to a plurality of intermediate control nodes. Individual encrypted segments are mirrored from the staged complete set to a plurality of intermediate servers. Requests are received from clients for the media content at the centralized control center. Each individual encrypted segment in the set is received from one of an intermediate control node and an intermediate server optimally sited from the requesting client. The individual encrypted segments are reassembled into the media content for media playback.
Apparatus and method for displaying content
A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a set-top-box (STB) having a controller to join a multicast group having an associated multicast address, wherein the multicast address is associated with a first content type of a plurality of content types, access encoded content associated with the first content type from the multicast address, wherein the encoded content is transmitted by at least one source associated with the multicast group to the multicast address, decode the accessed encoded content, and display the decoded content on a channel mapped to the multicast address. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Real-time wireless synchronization of live event audio stream with a video recording
Systems and methods are presented herein that facilitate temporally synchronizing, in real time, a separately sourced high quality audio segment of a live event with a video segment that is generated by a recording device associated with a member of the audience. An A-V Synchronization Application may synchronize a video segment of a live event that is generated from a personal electronic device of an audience member with a high quality audio segment that is separately sourced and generated by professional sound recording equipment at the live event. The result of the temporal synchronization is a high fidelity digital audio visual recording of the live event. In various, the audience member may stream, in real-time, the high fidelity digital audio visual recording to an additional electronic device at a different geo-location. In some examples, narrative audio segments may be also included as part of the high fidelity digital audio visual recording.
Hybrid video time-bandwidth product improvement (HVTBPI) reception
The disclosure is directed to an apparatus that can include a first receiver, a second receiver, a video demultiplexor, and an assembly engine. The first receiver can receive multiplexed multimedia content and advertisement, the multiplexed multimedia content and advertisement being received over a reduced number of broadcast channels to release at least one of bandwidth and radio frequency spectrum, not included in the reduced number of broadcast channels, for other applications. The second receiver can receive unavailable other content, the unavailable other content being other content that is different from the multiplexed multimedia content and advertisement and unavailable to the apparatus. The video demultiplexor can demultiplex the received multiplexed multimedia content and advertisement from the reduced number of broadcast channels to produce a multimedia content and an advertisement and store, within a storage device, the multimedia content and the advertisement.
System and method for providing digital content
A system and method for disseminating digital content, including receiving a video stream having embedded time code markers, copying the video stream, distributing a first copy to a player with a desired delay, distributing a second copy for association of content, and associating content with the second copy during the delay for playing of the first copy and the associated content at the player.
