Color night vision cameras, systems, and methods thereof

Disclosed are improved methods, systems and devices for color night vision that reduce the number of intensifiers and/or decrease noise. In some embodiments, color night vision is provided in system in which multiple spectral bands are maintained, filtered separately, and then recombined in a unique three-lens-filtering setup. An illustrative four-camera night vision system is unique in that its first three cameras separately filter different bands using a subtractive Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (CMY) color filtering-process, while its fourth camera is used to sense either additional IR illuminators or a luminance channel to increase brightness. In some embodiments, the color night vision is implemented to distinguish details of an image in low light. The unique application of the three-lens subtractive CMY filtering allows for better photon scavenging and preservation of important color information.

IMAGE PROCESSING DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING PIXEL OUTPUT LEVEL AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

An image sensor includes a pixel array that includes a first pixel group located in a first row and including a first select transistor and a first floating diffusion region, a second pixel group located in a second row and including a second select transistor and a second floating diffusion region, and a column line connected to both the first pixel group and the second pixel group. While charges generated by a photoelectric conversion element of the first pixel group are transferred to the first floating diffusion region, the first select transistor is turned off, the second select transistor is turned on, and a first voltage is applied to the column line through the second select transistor. A photoelectric conversion element of the second pixel group generates charges prior to the photoelectric conversion element of the first pixel group, so as to be transferred to the second floating diffusion region.

Imaging device

In an imaging device, a first digital signal corresponding to a first analog signal read out from a pixel, and a second digital signal corresponding to the amount of charge accumulated during a first exposure period following a period for reading the first analog signal. A difference is acquired between a first difference and a second difference wherein the first difference is a difference between a third digital signal and the second digital signal, the third digital signal is a digital signal corresponding to the amount of charge cumulatively accumulated during the first exposure period and a following second exposure period, and the second difference is a difference between the second digital signal and the first digital signal. At least one of the first exposure period or the second exposure period includes a period during which the first light source is in the on-state.
