SMART GLASSES TO ASSIST THOSE WHO ARE DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING
20230221583 · 2023-07-13 ·

A wearable apparatus for hearing assistance, such as hearing glasses, is described. The wearable apparatus includes two microphones which are separated by a separation distance from each other. A display is included which is configured to present images in front of a user’s eyes. The wearable apparatus also has a processor to receive a first sound at a first time from a first microphone, receive the first sound at a second time from a second microphone, determine a direction of origin of the first sound based on the first time, the second time and the separation distance, and provide a visual indication of the direction of origin of the first sound using the display. The processor may also generate captions based on received speech and display the captions using the display.

VIRTUAL AND MIXED REALITY AUDIO SYSTEM ENVIRONMENT CORRECTION
20230224667 · 2023-07-13 ·

A virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and/or mixed reality (MR) system in a physical environment with a plurality of loudspeakers includes a user-worn head mounted display (HMD), a VR/AR/MR processor, and a VR/AR/MR user tracking processor. The HMD includes a microphone and a user tracking device configured to track a user orientation and position. The VR/AR/MR processor delivers a digital video signal to the head-mounted display, and a digital control signal and a digital audio signal to a receiver/preamplifier. The VR/AR/MR user tracking processor receives user tracking data from the HMD user tracking device and provides a digital user tracking data signal to the receiver preamplifier. the receiver/preamplifier receives the digital user tracking data signal, the digital control signal, the digitized microphone signal, and the digital audio signal, and provides a processed audio signal to the amplifier. An amplifier receives the processed audio signal and provides amplified audio signals.

Electronic devices having displays with openings

An electronic device may have a display. The display may have an active region in which display pixels are used to display images. The display may have one or more openings and may be mounted in a housing associated with the electronic device. An electronic component may be mounted in alignment with the openings in the display. The electronic component may include a camera, a light sensor, a light-based proximity sensor, status indicator lights, a light-based touch sensor array, a secondary display that has display pixels that may be viewed through the openings, antenna structures, a speaker, a microphone, or other acoustic, electromagnetic, or light-based component. One or more openings in the display may form a window through which a user of the device may view an external object. Display pixels in the window region may be used in forming a heads-up display.

Waveguide assembly

A waveguide assembly for guiding sound includes a chassis that provides a cavity configured to receive sound propagating in a forwards direction along a primary axis of the waveguide assembly; a fixed waveguide that is fixed with respect to the chassis and positioned on the primary axis of the waveguide assembly, wherein the fixed waveguide is spaced apart from the chassis and is configured to guide sound received by the cavity through at least one opening formed between the fixed waveguide element and the chassis; a moveable waveguide that is moveable with respect to the chassis between: a standby position in which the moveable waveguide is configured to obstruct the at least one opening and form a forward-facing surface of the waveguide assembly; an operational position in which the moveable waveguide is configured to allow sound to exit the cavity through the at least one opening.

ACOUSTIC REPRODUCTION SYSTEM, DISPLAY DEVICE, AND CALIBRATION METHOD

Provided is an acoustic reproduction system capable of setting a sound image localization service area at an arbitrary position even in a case where a sound production direction of a directional sound cannot be changed. An acoustic reproduction system according to the present technology includes: a sound producing device that emits a directional sound; and a sound reflector positioned between a viewer and a viewing target by the viewer and having a sound reflecting surface that reflects the directional sound emitted by the sound producing device.

FILTER CONTROL METHOD AND FILTER CONTROL DEVICE
20230008531 · 2023-01-12 ·

A filter control method controls a filter that controls frequency characteristics of a sound signal over a plurality of bands. The filter control method is implemented by a computer. The filter control method includes accepting a specifying operation from a user to specify a latency of the filter as a desired latency of the filter, accepting a setting operation from the user to set desired values of two or more parameters, which include phase characteristics and gain, for a respective band among the plurality of bands within a limit range determined based on the desired latency, and generating coefficients for the filter based on the desired values of the two or more parameters for the respective band.

Audio sample phase alignment in an artificial reality system

This disclosure describes techniques that include aligning processing of audio samples collected by multiple audio sensors or microphones. In one example, this disclosure describes a method comprising detecting a transition by the second microphone from a disabled state to an enabled state; after detecting the transition, performing phase alignment between audio samples collected by the first microphone and audio samples collected by the second microphone by introducing a delay in starting processing of the audio samples collected by the second microphone; and processing the phase-aligned audio samples.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for validating and publishing workflows from remote environments. In some implementations, a link that includes at least one of audio data and video data is established between a wireless device of a remote participant and a computational mixer. A profile for the remote participant is referenced. A venue signal related to the at least one audio data and video data is generated based on the profile for the remote participant and using the computational mixer. The venue signal is transmitted.

INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM HOUSING WITH INTEGRATED PLANAR SPEAKER

A portable information handling system glass ceramic housing has a cut out section at an opening and a speaker chamber cover disposed in the opening to integrate a speaker at a bottom front side of the housing. A speaker coil couples to the housing section to align with a speaker magnet coupled to the speaker chamber cover to generate audible sound in a speaker chamber defined when the housing section couples over the opening. A polymer material is disposed between the housing section and housing, and the housing section is cut out with an upward curve, so that audible sound is directed upwards from the housing and towards an end user of the information handling system.
