Methods and systems are provided for gaming headset with enhanced off-screen awareness. An audio system that is used for outputting audio signals to a user may be configured for identifying in audio signals, based on parameters or criteria associated with a user of the system, one or more components in the audio signals; determining characteristics of the one or more components based on perception of the audio signals by the user; and adjusting based on the characteristics of the one or more components, the one or more components and/or one or more other components in the audio signals. The audio system may include circuits for handling the required functions. The circuits may include a detection circuit configured for identify the one or more components, one or more adjustment circuits for applying the adjustments, and a controller circuit for controlling applying the adjustments.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ASSISTING SELECTIVE HEARING
A system and a corresponding method for assisting selective hearing are provided. The system includes a detector for detecting an audio source signal portion of one or more audio sources by using at least two received microphone signals of a hearing environment. In addition, the system includes a position determiner for allocating position information to each of the one or more audio sources. In addition, the system includes an audio type classifier for assigning an audio source signal type to the audio source signal portion of each of the one or more audio sources. In addition, the system includes a signal portion modifier for varying the audio source signal portion of at least one audio source of the one or more audio sources depending on the audio signal type of the audio source signal portion of the at least one audio source so as to obtain a modified audio signal portion of the at least one audio source. In addition, the system includes a signal generator.
Binaural rendering apparatus and method for playing back of multiple audio sources
A method generates binaural headphone playback signals given multiple audio source signals with associated metadata and a binaural room impulse response (BRIR) database, where the audio source signals can be channel-based, object-based, or a mixture of both signals. The method groups the audio source signals according to positions of the audio sources, divides BRIR into blocks and frames, where the BRIR is divided into a direct block and diffuse blocks, and divides each audio source signal into blocks and frames, wherein the source signal is divided into a current block and previous blocks, and the current block is further divided into the frames. The method further averages, for each of previous frames of the source signals, the divided BRIR identified with the grouping result by downmixing the previous frames of the source signals according to the grouping result, and performs a convolution with the downmixed previous frame.
Playing binaural sound in response to a person being at a location
An electronic device includes a display and one or more processors. The display displays, when a person is at a location, a virtual image at a sound localization point (SLP) in empty space. The one or more processors process sound with a room impulse response (RIR) for the location in order to generate binaural sound that externally localizes at the SLP in empty space in response to the person being at the location.
Headset and method for operating a headset
A gaming unit and producing a game-audio output of a varying volume level and a chat-voice output is connected to headphones adapted to be worn by a player of the unit and connected to the gaming unit for making the chat-voice output and the game-audio output audible to the player. A computer implemented system for rendering captured audio soundfields to a listener comprises apparatus to deliver the audio soundfields to the listener. The delivery apparatus delivers the audio soundfields to the listener with first and second audio elements perceived by the listener as emanating from first and second virtual source locations, respectively, and with the first audio element and/or the second audio element delivered to the listener from a third virtual source location.
