ADAPTIVE TRIGGERING OF RTT RANGING FOR ENHANCED POSITION ACCURACY
A range between a first wireless device and a second wireless device is estimated using a first mechanism based on messages transmitted over a first communication channel. The first communication channel is associated with a first radio access technology capability of the wireless devices. One or more metrics indicative of an accuracy of the range estimates provided by the first mechanism are obtained. A second mechanism to estimate a range between the first wireless device and the second wireless device may be implemented in favor of the first mechanism when the metric fails to satisfy a criterion. The second mechanism is based on unicast messages transmitted over a second communication channel. The second communication channel is associated with a second radio access technology capability of the wireless devices and may be the same as, or different from, the first communication channel.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING INFORMATION ABOUT TASK TO EXTERNAL DEVICE
A method and a system for an external device with information about a task being performed by a user device are provided. The method includes receiving information about the task being performed by the user device, identifying a plurality of external devices located near a wearable device of a user of the user device, determining a first external device to continuously perform the task from among the plurality of external devices based on the information about the task and characteristics information about the identified external devices, and transmitting the information about the task to the first external device.
METHOD WHEREBY TERMINAL SELECTS PLMN IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, AND DEVICE FOR SAME
One embodiment of the present invention relates to a method whereby a terminal performs an operation related to public land mobile network (PLMN) selection related to ProSe direct communication in a wireless communication system, the method for performing an operation related to PLMN selection comprising the steps of: selecting a first PLMN; performing registration with the first PLMN; and selecting a second PLMN in case of failure to register with the first PLMN, wherein when selecting the second PLMN, the terminal treats a list that did not include the first PLMN at the time of selecting the first PLMN as if the list has included the first PLMN.
Passive Entry Systems Employing Time of Flight Distance Measurements
Systems and methods employ ultra-wide band (UWB) time of flight (ToF) distance measurements for locating a portable device relative to a target. Performance and reliability of UWB ToF distance measurements for locating the portable device is improved by adjusting a communication retry strategy based on signal quality calculations. The quality of an UWB signal received by each satellite of a base station is assessed based on factors like signal strength, noise level, and ratio of first path signal power to total signal power. This data is used to direct the retry strategy to the satellites receiving the best signal quality for these satellites to conduct ToF distance measurements with the portable device and/or to add correction factors to calculated ToF distance measurements.
ON-DEMAND DRIVER SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Example on-demand driver (ODD) systems and methods are described herein. An example method includes generating, with an ODD system, a softkey for a vehicle associated with an agreement between a driver-in-need (DIN) and an ODD, monitoring, with the ODD system, a location of an ODD device carried by the ODD, and transmitting, with the ODD system, the softkey to the ODD device when the ODD device is detected as being within a proximity of the vehicle. In the example method, the softkey is used to unlock the vehicle.
Information Processing System and Information Processing Method
A handheld terminal 200 performs wireless communication with a game apparatus 103 and determines whether the wireless communication with the game apparatus 103 is possible. The game apparatus 103 performs wireless communication with the handheld terminal 200 and determines whether the wireless communication with the handheld terminal 200 is possible. The game apparatus 103 performs a return home determination process, based on the determination about whether the wireless communication is possible, when the wireless communication with the handheld terminal 200 has become, after having become disabled, enabled again.
Method And System For A Mesh Network Of Satellite Reception Assemblies
A satellite reception assembly that provides satellite television and/or radio service to a customer premises may comprise a wireless interface via which it can communicate with other satellite reception assemblies. Wireless connections between satellite reception assemblies may be utilized for providing satellite content between different satellite customer premises. Wireless connections between satellite reception assemblies may be utilized for offloading traffic from other network connections.
METHOD FOR DETERMINING LOCATION OF WIRELESS DEVICES
To determine a location of a client device in a wireless network having at least first and second network devices, with known locations, one of the network devices transmits a message to the other network device and the other network device responds with an acknowledgement message. A client device receives the message and the acknowledgement message as well as respective times indicating actual times at which the message and the acknowledgement message were processed by one of the first and second network devices. The client device determines its location based on the times at which it received the message and the acknowledgement message and the difference between the actual processing times. This location may be refined by determining an angle between the client device and at least one of the network devices having multiple antennas and being configured for steered beam communications.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REGULATING VEHICLE ACCESS
A method for regulating vehicle access comprises receiving, from an electronic device of a user, a request to access a vehicle. The vehicle can be disposed at a designated geographic location. Next, geographic information of the user is received from the electronic device. The geographic information is determined with the aid of the electronic device of the user. The user is then provided access to the vehicle if, based on the received geographic information, a geographic location of the user is within a given distance from the designated geographic location of the vehicle.
Apparatus and Method for Enabling Broadcast of a Wireless Signal when Switching Operation Mode
An apparatus configured to broadcast a wireless signal when a processing circuitry of the apparatus is in a non-active state. The broadcasted signals can be used to localize the apparatus when the apparatus is lost. The apparatus has a first processing circuitry configured to operate in an active power consuming mode and a non-active low power consuming mode. The apparatus further has a wireless transmit circuitry configured to be in an active mode and broadcast a wireless signal when the first processing circuitry switches operation mode from the active mode to the non-active mode. The first processing circuitry is powered by a battery supply, and the first processing circuitry may be configured to automatically switch from the active mode to the non-active mode when the supply voltage provided by the battery supply decreases below a threshold voltage, whereby the wireless circuitry will be broadcasting.
