A computer program product, method and mobile device, the computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable storage medium retaining program instructions configured to cause a processor to perform actions, wherein the processor is a processor of a mobile device of a user, wherein the mobile device is in communication with a server associated with an entity other than the user, wherein the server is in communication with a plurality of mobile devices, each of which retaining the computer program product, wherein the program instructions implement: subject to an occurrence of an event associated with the user of the mobile device, obtaining data to be transmitted to the server, wherein the event is of interest to the entity, wherein the data to be transmitted comprises demographic information of the user and a property of the event, wherein the data excludes identifying information; and transmitting the data to the server.

LOCAL BROADCAST DURING IDLE STATE OF USER EQUIPMENT DEVICE TO TRIGGER COLLISION-AVOIDANCE PROCEDURE
20230040797 · 2023-02-09 ·

The methods, devices, and systems discussed herein periodically broadcast a signal containing an indicator to a first area that is near a potential safety scenario, such as an intersection. In some examples, the broadcast signal is part of a Synchronization System Block (SSB). In other examples, the broadcast signal is a System Information Block (SIB) message. Upon entering the first area and waking from an IDLE state, a mobile wireless communication device (WCD) receives the broadcast signal. In response to receiving the broadcast signal, the WCD activates a collision-avoidance procedure. In some examples, the collision-avoidance procedure includes sensing device-to-device (D2D) resources in order to detect D2D transmissions from an approaching D2D-capable device (e.g., a vehicle). In other examples, the collision-avoidance procedure includes transmitting a periodic D2D safety message using D2D resources.

DEVELOPING A FINGERPRINT MAP FOR DETERMINING AN INDOOR LOCATION OF A WIRELESS DEVICE

Techniques are described herein for developing a fingerprint map that may be used for 3D indoor localization. In one example, a network server may leverage a building footprint from an open source database with signal measurements taken by probing user devices from signal sources such as access point (AP) devices. The network server may use the signal measurements to remotely calculate corresponding 3D positions of the AP devices in a particular building. Further, the network server may use the building footprint and the calculated 3D positions of the AP devices as references for developing the fingerprint map for 3D indoor localization.

Electronic device for secure communications with an automobile

A mobile device securely communicates with an electronic device within an automobile. The mobile device transmits encrypted spatial state information and the electronic device provides commands to the automobile in response. Spatial state information may include location, motion, or the like. Commands to the automobile may include door unlock commands, remote start commands, horn honk commands, or the like.

Assessing spatial movement behavior

The present subject matter relates to techniques of assigning a mobility factor to the user based on the spatial movement data. In one example, the technique may include four phases for assigning the mobility factors to the users. In a first phase, spatial movement data from a plurality of user devices assigned to a plurality of users may be received. In a second phase, spatial movement behavior for a set of user devices may be assessed using the received spatial movement data of the members of the set using machine learning techniques. In a third phase, user devices may be selected based on the assessed spatial movement behavior using machine learning techniques for reconfiguration. Finally, at a four phase, the selected user devices may be reconfigured.

Method and apparatus for position estimation
11573335 · 2023-02-07 · ·

A method and apparatus for improving a dead reckoning estimate of a mobile unit is described. When an accurate position cannot be determined for a mobile unit, for example if GPS is unavailable, a dead reckoning estimate can be improved when two or more mobile units share their position estimates and the shared position estimates are used with either the range between the two units or knowledge that the units are within a threshold distance of each other to refine the position estimate of at least one unit.

AUTOMATIC DETERMINATION OF PICKUP WAIT TIMES

A system including one or more processors and one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing computing instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform certain acts. The acts can include determining an estimated arrival time of a user at a physical store. The acts also can include generating an estimated wait time using a machine learning model and based on input data comprising the estimated arrival time and dynamic wait time data for the physical store. The acts additionally can include sending the estimated wait time to at least one of the physical store or a mobile device of the user. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Power management techniques for increasing battery life in an alert generation system

This disclosure provides systems and methods for providing an emergency alert notification. An electronic communication device can receive, from an alert generation device, a low power advertising packet responsive to an action performed on the alert generation device. Before the action is performed, the alert generation device can be in a low power state, such as a sleep state, to conserve battery. The action can cause the alert generation device to transition from the low power state to a second state in which the alert generation device begins transmitting the advertising packet. The electronic communication device can identify at least one emergency contact to receive an alert based on a contact policy and can determine an alert type based on the contact policy. The electronic communication device can generate the alert including a request for assistance and can transmit the alert to the at least one emergency contact.

Method and apparatus for making emergency call

This application provides a method and an apparatus for making an emergency call. The method includes: obtaining location information of UE; determining, based on the local information, whether the UE is located in a home country of an HPLMN of the UE; and when the UE is located in the home country of the HPLMN, if a predetermined condition is satisfied, initiating a VoWiFi emergency call by using an IMS APN of the HPLMN, where the predetermined condition includes: the UE has completed IMS registration, and a PLMN on which the UE camps includes no emergency APN. According to the method and apparatus for making an emergency call provided in this application, a VoWiFi emergency call success rate can be increased to some extent.
