System and method for reducing control data traffic in a white space network
09775189 · 2017-09-26 ·

Systems and methods to reduce control data traffic between a hub radio device (e.g., a master white space device) and spoke radio devices (e.g., slave white space devices). Reduced are the number of control messages and/or the amount of data transmitted in control data messages. The hub radio device stores data regarding the spoke radio devices that register for white space access (e.g., specific spectrum access credentials) with a spectrum management server via the hub radio device. As long as conditions regarding a spoke radio device remain relatively unchanged, the stored data for the spoke radio device may be used to maintain the white space access through periodic renewal of the corresponding channel authorization with the spectrum management server.

Communication method and apparatus

The present disclosure relates to communication methods and apparatus. One example method includes receiving, by a target service entity, a first request message from a first participating service entity, and sending, by the target service entity, a first response message to the first participating service entity. The first request message comprises an identity of a target multicast bearer and a group identity of a terminal group. The first response message is used to instruct the first participating service entity to use the target multicast bearer to send service data of the terminal group.

Methods and systems for selectively routing group communications amongst multiple networks

A process carried out by a first mobile radio includes detecting a request to transmit group communication media and, responsively, determining, by the first mobile radio, whether a push-to-talk (PTT) key input is in an activated or de-activated state, selecting, by the first mobile radio and as a function of the determined state of the PTT key, one of a first talkgroup on a first wireless network and a second talkgroup on a second wireless network as a target talkgroup to transmit the communication media to, and transmitting, by the first mobile radio via a corresponding one of a first wireless communication interface to the first wireless network and a second wireless communication interface to the second wireless network, the communication media to the selected target talkgroup.

Method and apparatus for coordinating an operation of multiple mobile devices in a group call

A method, Group Application Server, and mobile device are provided that coordinate an operation of multiple mobile devices of a same user in a group call. When the multiple mobile devices join the group call, a first mobile device of the multiple mobile devices determines that it is an active device and provides an indication of such to the Group Application Server. In response to receiving the indication, the Group Application Server identifies a second mobile device, of the multiple mobile devices, that is a non-active device and one or more of modifies subsequent communications with the second mobile device or conveys a behavior modification message to the second mobile device. In another embodiment of the present invention, the first mobile device may indicate that it is the active device directly to the second mobile device and the second mobile device modify its behavior accordingly.

OPTIMIZING NETWORK RESOURCES USAGE BY DYNAMICALLY CONTROLLING MEDIA BURSTS IN SIMULTANEOUS PUSH TO TALK OVER CELLULAR (POC) CALLS

Optimal network resource consumption by dynamically controlling media bursts in Simultaneous PoC (Push-To-X (Push-To-Voice/Video/etc.) Over Cellular) calls. Embodiments disclosed herein relate to wireless communication networks, and more particularly to PoC calls performed using wireless communication networks. Embodiments herein disclose methods and systems for optimal network resource consumption by dynamically controlling media bursts, when a user is participating in simultaneous PoC sessions. Embodiments herein disclose methods and systems for optimal network resource consumption by enabling a user to selectively enable/disable multiple PoC sessions using MBCP “Activate” and “Deactivate” messages.

DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SCANNING COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS OF DIFFERENT TYPES

A device, method and system for scanning communication systems of different types is provided. A mobile device comprises: first and second transceivers to communicate first and second communication systems of different types; a memory storing first and second scan lists for scanning first and second channels on the first and second communication systems; and a controller configured to: communicate, using the first transceiver, an indication of the first and second scan lists to a gateway device configured as a proxy for the mobile device to communicate with the first communication systems; receive, using the first transceiver, from the gateway device, a reply indicating that the gateway device is capable of scanning the first communication systems using the first scan list, but is not capable of scanning the second communication systems; and control the second transceiver to scan the one or more second communication systems using the second scan list.

System and method for variable length talk permit tone

Techniques for variable length talk permit tone are provided. a request to initiate a Push-to-Talk (PTT) call may be received from a PTT call initiator. A first estimated length of time needed to set up resources for the PTT call may be determined. A second length of time to playout a talk permit tone (TPT) may be determined based on the determined first estimated length of time. An indication may be sent to the PTT call initiator to playout the TPT for the determined second length of time.
