Outdoor lighting network as a contingency connectivity infrastructure
An outdoor lighting network (OLN) is disclosed as a supplementary or contingency communications infrastructure for smart city systems. The OLN may integrate light points within the network as receivers which are switched from a standard OLN communication protocol to a D2D based protocol upon disruption of a primary smart city systems communications network, wherein each communication protocol includes a respective message prioritization method. Aspects of the disclosure additionally includes methods and apparatus for implementing an outdoor lighting network which can act, in cases of primary communication failure, as a D2D network in order to pass messages from smart city system field devices, through the converted D2D OLN network and to a smart city system central manager for proper handling and distribution of the smart city system field device communications.
PRIORITIZING DIGITAL ASSISTANT RESPONSES
A method and apparatus for prioritizing a digital-assistant response is provided herein. During operation a personal-area network (PAN) master device will have knowledge of a status of devices forming the PAN and/or have knowledge of a current incident type assigned to a user. The PAN master device will then prioritize any responses/suggestions to the user based on the status of associated PAN devices and/or the incident type.

AUGMENTED REALITY GLASSES FOR INDICATING GEAR POSITION AND/OR OTHER INFORMATION TO A BICYCLE RIDER
Eyewear for use by a rider of a bicycle may comprise a wireless personal area network (WPAN) transceiver configured to associate with at least one electronic shifting component of a bicycle and determine a number of front and rear gears of the bicycle. The WPAN transceiver may be configured to receive an indication of a gear change of the bicycle. A processor may be configured to indicate to a user of the eyewear, based on the indication of the gear change of the bicycle, a change in gear position.
Fixed Broadband Wireless Access CPE with Embedded IoT Gateways
A computer-implemented method when executed by data processing hardware of customer premises equipment installed at an exterior portion of a premises of a user causes the data processing hardware to perform operation. The operations include receiving, via a local area network associated with the user, a first communication from a user device located within an interior of the premises of the user. The operations also include receiving, via a low-power wide area network, a second communication from a low-power device located exterior of the premises of the user. The operations also include transmitting, via a broadband connection using a fixed wireless access network, the first communication and the second communication to a remote server.
Multi-functional, software configurable device for fixed wireless networks
Technologies directed to a wireless network device with a single hardware architecture that supports multiple devices roles through software configuration are described. One wireless network device includes a housing with an RF connector and a circuit board with a first radio coupled to an internal antenna and a second radio coupled to an external antenna via the RF connector. The second antenna is mounted on an exterior surface of the building and coupled to the RF connector via an RF cable. The wireless network device establishes a first wireless link between the first radio and a radio of a second device via the first antenna and a second wireless link between the second radio and a radio of a third device via the second antenna. The second device can be a second wireless network device that is programmed to operate as a gateway, the gateway being mounted outside of the building. The third device is located inside the building can be either a customer premises equipment (CPE) station or a wireless endpoint device. Each of the wireless network device, the second wireless network device, and the CPE station include identical hardware.
CONTROL DEVICE, WIRELESS CONNECTION CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM
A printing device (100) is provided with: a communication module (26) which performs transmission and reception of signals with an information processing device (101) with which wireless connection has been established; and a control circuit (25) which performs prescribed control in accordance with a request signal from the information processing device (101). While executing said prescribed control in accordance with a request signal, the control circuit (25) keeps the communication module (26) in a state in which transmission of a beacon signal containing identification information of the communication module (26) is halted.
System and Method for Improving Content Fetching by Selecting Tunnel Devices
A method for fetching a content from a web server to a client device is disclosed, using tunnel devices serving as intermediate devices. The tunnel device is selected based on an attribute, such as IP Geolocation. A tunnel bank server stores a list of available tunnels that may be used, associated with values of various attribute types. The tunnel devices initiate communication with the tunnel bank server, and stays connected to it, for allowing a communication session initiated by the tunnel bank server. Upon receiving a request from a client to a content and for specific attribute types and values, a tunnel is selected by the tunnel bank server, and is used as a tunnel for retrieving the required content from the web server, using standard protocol such as SOCKS, WebSocket or HTTP Proxy. The client only communicates with a super proxy server that manages the content fetching scheme.
AUTHORIZATION SYSTEM, MANAGEMENT SERVER AND AUTHORIZATION METHOD
[Problem] In guest invitation for a smart lock, a burden on an owner on invitation is reduced and impersonation or invitation of an unintended third party is prevented.
[Solution] A representative guest terminal 102 requesting unlocking of a smart lock 400 generates authentication information referred to at the time of a request for unlocking, imparts a signature to the authentication information, and transmits the authentication information to an owner terminal 101. The owner terminal 101 verifies a signature of the representative guest terminal 102, imparts a signature to the authentication information, and transmits the authentication information to a management server 200. The management server 200 verifies the signatures of the representative guest terminal 102 and the owner terminal 101, stores the owner terminal 101 and the representative guest terminal 102 in association with each other, and stores the authentication information and the representative guest terminal 102 in association with each other. When the management server 200 receives an unlocking request from the smart lock 400 and successfully authenticates the unlocking request by referring to the stored authentication information, the smart lock 400 is unlocked.
MODULAR PERSONAL NETWORK SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Modular personal networks (MPNs) are disclosed that include multiple devices that may be worn, carried, or used in close proximity to a user. The devices communicate wirelessly. Devices include security circuitry that prevents them from being used in a different MPN once the user has configured them. Devices not designed for use within an MPN can be included in the network using a bridge device. Devices can be integrated into items of jewelry, such as earrings, rings, pendants, and bracelets. One item of jewelry, such as a bracelet, can support multiple replaceable modules with variable functions. Functions of the MPN can include communications, entertainment, medical monitoring, sports monitoring, personal organization, and games. Multiple users each with his or her own MPN can use them to collaborate in creation of music. An MPN can be used for mobile recognition and logging of wildlife.
