The information (resource allocation, partition information and numerology) of at least one of a plurality of RATs used by the eNB is provided to a UE. Each RAT has a flexible subcarrier spacing and symbol duration, which are integer multiples of a base subcarrier spacing and symbol duration, and is associated with at least one of different temporal and frequency resources. The symbol and/or frame structure of each RAT are independent. A Transmission Time Interval (TTI) boundary between the RATs is common, and the RATs comprise a common reference TTI duration. The information of the RATs is provided either via a different RAT than the RAT used by the UE for communication or via a dedicated carrier in the RAT used by the UE for communication.

The determining unit determines whether the resource in the shared band is idle or busy. The unlicensed band transmitting unit transmits a permission signal for permitting transmission in the shared band when the determining unit determines that the resource in the shared band is idle. The control signal or the permission signal includes an offset indicating a time from the permission signal to a start of transmission of data from the terminal to the base station with reference to the permission signal transmitted from the unlicensed band transmitting unit.

A method for a wireless communications system is disclosed. In one example, user equipment (UE) (e.g. a mobile phone) receives an indication from a network (for example, by way of a transmission and reception point (TRP)) indicating whether a first transmission and a second transmission to the UE can be combined for decoding. The UE also receives the first transmission via a first UE beam and the second transmission via a second UE beam. The first transmission and the second transmission are received concurrently. The first and second transmissions can arrive via different serving beams and/or different TRPs of the same cell. Based on the indication, the UE combines the first and second transmissions for decoding purposes.
