Disclosed are a method and apparatus in which a first device transmits and receives data using Bluetooth Low Energy technology in a wireless communication system. The method includes: opening a control channel for controlling a second device and a third device; and performing a codec and parameter negotiation procedure for the transmission and reception of an audio stream between the second device and the third device, the first device being a device that controls the second device and the third device, the second device being a device that transmits the audio stream, and the third device being a device that receives the audio stream.

Device and method for implementing synchronous connection-oriented (SCO) pass-through links

An electronic device includes circuitry configured to determine that a first codec associated with a signal corresponds to one of one or more codecs supported by another device that is connected to the electronic device via a first communication link. A signal path is configured between a radio device configured to receive the signal and the electronic device based on a correspondence between the first codec associated with the signal and the one or more codecs supported by the another device. The signal is transmitted to the other device via the first communication link encoded with one of the one or more codecs supported by the other device.

Network node and communication method

A communication system is provided that includes a network node, a first terminal that supports a first codec, and a second terminal, wherein the first codec supports a codec A compatible mode and a codec A non-compatible mode, the first codec being a new codec and codec A having a dedicated payload format. The codec A compatible mode is compatible with a second codec and the codec A non-compatible mode is non-compatible with the second codec, the second codec being a legacy codec. The first terminal and the second terminal negotiate the codec A non-compatible mode in a session negotiation to select the codec A non-compatible mode to be used for the communication between the first terminal and the second terminal when the communication starts.

A communication node determines a codec and a codec mode to be used by two terminals that perform communication in a first network, when one of the two terminals performs handover to a second network that is different from the first network. The communication node includes: a determiner that sets common part for a codec and a codec mode to be used by the two terminals, the common part being common among information indicating codecs and codec modes used for communication in the first network, information indicating codecs and codec modes supported by the one terminal, and information indicating codecs and codec modes supported by the second network; and a generator that generates signaling for requesting the two terminals to perform changing to the set codec and codec mode to be used by the two terminals.

WIRELESS-CAPABLE REMOTE ANTENNA BOXES AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Disclosed are exemplary embodiments of audiovisual systems and related methods. In an exemplary embodiment, an antenna box is configured for wired connection with an over-the-air (OTA) antenna. The antenna box is operable to process OTA signals received from the OTA antenna and to wirelessly transmit the processed signals, via one or more wireless-capable devices remote from the antenna box, for play as audiovisual content on one or more display devices remote from the antenna box.

Gateway apparatus and communications system

A gateway apparatus including a first inter-device interface configured to communicate with a monitoring apparatus; a second inter-device interface configured to communicate with a plurality of base station apparatuses that are subordinate; and a processor configured to generate second configuration information by a protocol conversion of converting first configuration information to a format compatible with the second inter-device interface, when the first configuration information is received from the monitoring apparatus through the first inter-device interface, the processor further configured to transmit the generated second configuration information to the plurality of base station apparatuses through the second inter-device interface.

Method and apparatus for mitigating network failures

A network may include a method that includes, for example, receiving a communication request responsive to a telephone number mapping query failure, where the communication request is initiated by an originating communication device requesting a communication session with a terminating communication device, foregoing initiating the communication session as a circuit-switched communication session responsive to determining that the originating communication device and the terminating communication device are enabled to use packet-switched communications, and instructing a second network node to initiate the communication session as a packet-switched communication session between the originating communication device and the terminating communication device responsive to the determination. Other embodiments are disclosed.

SYNTHETIC COMMUNICATION NETWORK METHOD AND SYSTEM

Methods and systems for registering a phone device on a synthetic communication network are described. One implementation receives a request to connect the phone device to a synthetic communication network that transmits messages over a data network using one or more phone numbers from a voice network. A phone number and a country code associated with the phone device to be used for communications over the synthetic network are obtained. The phone number is normalized to a standard format distinguishing the resulting normalized phone number from international phone numbers using the synthetic network. Before the phone device is registered, an association between the normalized phone number and the phone device is verified by sending a verification message addressed to the phone device that loops back to the phone device. If the phone device confirms the verification as authentic, an authorization allows the phone device to communicate over the synthetic network.

Synchronization of audio and video data in a wireless communication system

Techniques are described for encoding an audio video stream that is transmitted over a network, for example a wireless or IP network, such that an entire frame of audio and an entire frame of video are transmitted simultaneously within a period required to render the audio video stream frames by an application in a receiver. Aspects of the techniques include receiving audio and video RTP streams and assigning an entire frame of RTP video data to communication channel packets that occupy the same period, or less, as the video frame rate. Also an entire frame of RTP audio data is assigned to communication channel packets that occupy the same period, or less, as the audio frame rate. The video and audio communication channel packets are transmitted simultaneously. Receiving and assigning RTP streams can be performed in a remote station, or a base station.
