The first cold plate is positioned within the base plate and the heat resistor is positioned over the first cold plate and the second cold plate is positioned over the heat resistor. The plurality of insulation layers includes a second insulator plate. The second insulator plate is positioned between the heat resistor and the second cold plate. The second insulator plate transfers at least an other portion of heat flux from the heat resistor to the second cold plate. At least a portion of heat flux from the heat resistor is transferred from a heat source to the first cold plate. The one or more sensors is positioned within at least one of the second cold plate and first cold plate.

The present disclosure relates to aerosol delivery devices. The aerosol delivery devices may include a reservoir containing a liquid aerosol precursor composition and an atomizer including an electrical resistance heating element and a nonfibrous liquid transport element having a microtextured surface adapted for surface wicking of the liquid aerosol precursor composition across the microtextured surface, the microtextured surface of the liquid transport element being in fluid communication with the reservoir and in fluid communication with the electric resistance heating element.

A novel solid-state heating element is disclosed. The heating element comprises a plurality of heating layers comprised of a mixture of carbon and a polymer or plastic. The heating layers are disposed on or infused into a substrate. Each heating layer can be disposed on, or infused into, its own substrate, or the heating layers can be disposed on or infused into opposites sides of the same substrate. A radiating element can be disposed in proximity to one or both of the heating layers. The radiating element absorbs the radiation put out by the heating layer(s) and reradiates heat. A heat transfer fluid such as air or a liquid can be directed across the radiating element and/or other areas of the heating element to transfer heat from the heating element to another location.

The buffer layer includes a polymeric material having a thermal conductivity greater than air at standard temperature and pressure and surrounds the heating element, power supply wires, and spacer.
