20220111269 · 2022-04-14 ·

The invention is a golf club head with a ball striking face including a plurality of recesses, a plurality of first grooves, and a plurality of second grooves that extend between a heel edge and a toe edge of the club head. The ball striking face includes a first material, for example a metal material, and the plurality of recesses are filled with a fill material, for example a polymer material. The depth of the grooves, the height of the grooves, the fill material, and the positioning of the grooves can all affect the performance of the club head. In some embodiments, the club head is a putter-type club head.

Golf club head with sound damping

The present disclosure concerns embodiments of a badge and golf club head having a badge therein that can dampen the impact sound made when a hitting surface (a.k.a., face) of the golf club head impacts a golf ball. In one embodiment, a golf club head includes: a face portion surrounded by a topline portion, a toe portion, a sole portion and a heel portion, the face portion having a front striking surface and a back surface; and a badge coupled to the back surface of the face portion, the badge including a planar main body portion and at least one structural member extending outwardly from the main body portion, wherein the at least one structural member includes a lower portion and an upper portion disposed between the topline portion and lower portion, and wherein the at least one structural member has a maximum height, above the main body portion, at the lower portion and a minimum height at the upper portion.

GOLF CLUB HEADS WITH A MULTI-MATERIAL STRIKING SURFACE

Embodiments of putter-type golf club head comprising a striking surface capable of achieving consistent ball speeds across the striking surface to account for various ball impact locations are described herein. The striking surface has at least two materials that differs in concentration away from the geometric center of the striking surface to provide this consistency. Consistent (or uniform) ball speed is achieved throughout the striking surface as the portion of the golf ball that contacts the striking surface interacts with at least two materials having a differing material characteristic.

A mixed material golf club head including an outer metallic component and a polymeric component. The outer metallic component comprises the strike face. The polymeric component comprises a reaction wall that lies flush with a rear surface of the strike face. The reaction wall slidably translates across a back surface of the strike face at impact. In some embodiments, the outer metallic component is integrally formed with the crown and the polymeric component is integrally formed with the sole, to allow dynamic delofting for low-handicap golfers. In other embodiments, the outer metallic component is integrally formed with the sole and the polymeric component is integrally formed with the crown, to allow dynamic lofting for high-handicap golfers.

Embodiments of golf club heads with energy storage characteristics are presented herein. In some embodiments, a golf club head comprises a hollow body comprising a strikeface, a heel region, a toe region opposite the heel region, a sole, a top rail and an inflection point. The inflection point provides increase bending of the strikeface thereby providing performance enhancement over clubs without an inflection point.

FACEPLATE OF A GOLF CLUB HEAD

A golf club may include a head having a body and a faceplate coupled to the body. The faceplate may have a maximum thickness at a central location and a cross-section intersecting the central location. The cross-section may have continuously variable wall thickness across the faceplate. The faceplate may have a closed non-convex contour curve defined by constant faceplate wall thickness that encloses the central location.

STRIKING FACE OF A GOLF CLUB HEAD

An improved striking face of a golf club head is disclosed. More specifically, the present invention relates to a striking face having one or more thickened central region located near a “region of excessive performance” on the striking face, a thinned perimeter portion located around a perimeter of the striking face, and a transition region that transitions from each of the one or more thickened central region towards the thinned perimeter portion. The improved striking face could be made out of a material having a high strength and low hardness such as ATI-425®.

Mixed material golf club head

A golf club head includes a rear body having a crown member coupled to a sole member, and a front body coupled to the rear body to define a substantially hollow structure. The front body includes a strike face and a surrounding frame that extends rearward from a perimeter of the strike face. The front body further includes a fabric reinforced thermoplastic composite layer and a filled thermoplastic layer each extending across the entire strike face. The fabric reinforced thermoplastic composite layer and the filled thermoplastic layer each comprise a common thermoplastic resin component, and are directly bonded to each other without an intermediate adhesive.
