The transmitter includes a flameproof housing including an interior surface, a display aperture and a shoulder adjacent to the aperture at first end of the housing. A transparent panel including an outer face and a perimeter is inserted into the housing from a second end to threadingly engage a fastener feature located on the interior surface of the housing such that the fastener element contacts the transparent panel and retains the transparent panel against the shoulder. A perimeter interface region between the perimeter of the transparent panel and the interior surface of the flameproof housing creates a perimeter gap that does not exceed a predetermined flameproof gap limit and a face interface region between the outer face of the transparent panel and the shoulder creates a face gap that does not exceed the predetermined flameproof gap limit.

A pressure resistant adapter, for connecting a transmission line to a field device has a shell, insertable into a wall of a housing of the field device. The shell has an interior open to an interior of the housing and closed to the exterior by an end wall of the shell. An insert, installed in the shell, includes a base element and a projection protruding out of the shell through an opening in the end wall of the shell. The base element has a basal area greater than a basal area of the opening. A connection element is provided on an end of the projection protruding out from the shell, to which the transmission line is connectable, and at least one conductor extends through a window that is located in the base element adjoining the bore in the projection and opens to the interior of the housing.

The invention relates to a modular field device, which is simply and safely assemblable. For this, the field device comprises: a housing having an electrical plug contact arranged in a housing interior, a mechanical securement, which is embodied to secure a first electronic component in the housing interior, a second electronic component, which is arrangeable in the housing interior and which is electrically contactable with the plug contact, and an elastic connection, which is embodied to connect the first electronic component elastically with the second electronic component. A division of tasks between two electronic components enables a modular design of the field device with universally applicable electronic components. In addition, the elastic connection provides a simple, mechanical securement of the first electronic component in the housing with simultaneous, safe, electrical connection of the second electronic component with the plug contact.

A field device for automation technology is accommodated in a housing which is produced from a polygonal profile and, for its part, is closed by a base plate and a cover plate. A base module is connected to the base plate, the base module being provided in a manner designed in the same way in all devices of a field bus, in order to manage the tasks of voltage supply and network connection. A functional module, which is optionally connected to the cover plate, provides the field device with one or more specific functionalities, and therefore configures the field device in a specific direction. This results in a unit of modular construction which, together with other identical field devices of different configuration, can be joined in accordance with the construction kit principle to form an automation system.
