A valve for metering a fluid, including an electromagnetic actuator and a valve needle which is actuatable by an armature of the actuator and used to actuate a valve closing body which cooperates with a valve seat surface to form a seal seat. The armature is movably guided at the valve needle in the process. A stop element connected to the valve needle limits a relative movement between the armature and the valve needle in connection with an actuation of the valve needle. At least one elastically deformable spacer element is provided between the armature and the stop element, which, during the limitation of the relative movement between the armature and the valve needle at the stop element, encloses an attenuation space provided between a front face of the armature and a stop element surface of the stop element facing the front face of the armature.

An electro-mechanical system has a solenoid with a plunger received in a housing chamber. A plunger portion extends outwardly of the housing. There is at least one coil, and a control for the at least one coil. The control selectively applies a first higher level current to the coil to move the plunger to an actuated position relative to the housing. The control is operable to stop the supply of first high level current to the at least one coil and allow the plunger to move to an un-actuated position. The control is operable to supply a partial power current to the at least one coil when in said un-actuated position to resist movement of the plunger. A method is also disclosed.

The moveable part may include a moveable body and a second cylindrical extension extending from the moveable body, the second cylindrical extension including a cylindrical outer surface having a second diameter, smaller than the first diameter, to enable the cylindrical outer surface to move within the open end. The second diameter is sized for the cylindrical outer surface to pass adjacent to the cylindrical inner surface to enable passage of a portion of the magnetic flux radially to reduce an energy of impact between the moveable part and the static part.

The second diameter is sized for the cylindrical outer surface to pass adjacent to the cylindrical inner surface to enable passage of a portion of the magnetic flux radially to reduce an energy of impact between the moveable part and the static part.

ELECTROMAGNETIC ACTUATING DEVICE FOR A SWITCHING ELEMENT

An electromagnetic control mechanism for a switching element is described herein, which can be switched to an open operating state and to a closed operating state by means of an electromagnet and an actuating unit that acts counter to the actuation force of the electromagnet. The electromagnet has a dedicated mechanism for dampening the actuation movement of an anchor of the electromagnet toward a section of the coil, by means of which the actuation speed of the anchor can be reduced after a distance between a section of the anchor facing the coil and the section of the coil becomes shorter than a predefined distance. The mechanism for dampening comprises at least one component connected to the coil, which becomes functionally connected to the anchor after the distance becomes shorter than the defined distance, wherein, as the displacement of the anchor increases, liquid can be discharged from a chamber bordered by the component and the anchor via a throttle mechanism to an extent that reduces the actuation speed of the anchor.
