Hydrating mouth guard
A transmucosal delivery device includes a mouthpiece configured for receipt on a user's teeth, a permeable member coupled to the mouthpiece, a measurement module coupled to the mouthpiece for monitoring hydration of the user, and an excitation module coupled to the mouthpiece for inducing release of a hydrating substance from the permeable member based on the monitored hydration. The hydrating substance is delivered to the user through the user's oral mucosal tissue. Alternatively, a permeable member of a transmucosal delivery device houses an insulin solution to be delivered to the user through the user's oral mucosal tissue, and a measurement module coupled to the mouthpiece for monitoring blood glucose concentration of the user.
Mouth guard with breathing and drinking aperture
A mouth guard includes a pair of spaced-apart molar receiving members with an inner wall extending therebetween. The inner wall is configured for insertion between a user's lips and teeth. An outer wall is configured to confront an exterior surface of the user's lips. A conduit extends between the inner and outer walls and includes a passage formed therethrough. The passage extends through the inner wall between the molar receiving members and extends through the outer wall whereby a user may breathe or drink through the passage.
ORAL TRAINING APPLIANCE
An oral training appliance for training the tongue and lips of a person is disclosed. The appliance comprises a U shaped body comprising a front section and two arms, an inner wall and an outer wall. A tongue training member extends from the inner wall and is moveable in response to movement by the user's tongue from a rest configuration to a training configuration. The appliance also comprises a lip training member and is moveable in response to movement of a user's lower lip from a rest configuration to a training configuration and the lip training member is biased towards the rest configuration.
BREATHING ASSIST DEVICE
Apparatus for providing breathing assistance, the apparatus including a body for positioning within an oral cavity of a user, the body defining at least one first opening for allowing airflow between lips of the user, two second openings provided in the oral cavity to allow air flow into and out of a posterior region of the oral cavity and two channels, each channel connecting a respective second opening to the at least one first opening and each channel passing at least one of at least partially along the buccal cavity and at least partially between the teeth to thereby provide an airway for the user, the airway at least partially bypassing the nasal passage and acting to replicate a healthy nasal passage and pharyngeal space.
Breathing assist device
An apparatus is provided for breathing assistance that includes a body for positioning within an oral cavity of a user, the body defining at least one first opening for allowing airflow between lips of the user. Two second openings are provided in the oral cavity to allow air flow into and out of a posterior region of the oral cavity and two channels, each channel connecting a respective second opening to the at least one first opening and each channel passing at least one of at least partially along the buccal cavity and at least partially between the teeth to thereby provide an airway for the user. The airway at least partially bypasses the nasal passage and acts to replicate a healthy nasal passage and pharyngeal space.
Mouthguard including a protection portion having heating and softening features
A mouthguard according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes an occlusion portion that is configured to be disposed between and engaged by at least some of the upper teeth and at least some of the lower teeth of a wearer. The mouthguard further includes a protection portion coupled to the occlusion portion. The protection portion is configured to be disposed laterally and anteriorly relative to the upper teeth of the wearer. The protection portion includes an interior surface that is configured to face toward the teeth of the wearer. The protection portion further includes an exterior surface opposite the interior surface and configured to face away from the teeth of the wearer. At least a portion of the exterior surface is a textured surface.
Athletic Mouthpieces
There is provided an athletic mouthpiece comprising a tooth guard including a tooth channel, a mounting receiver, a retention element, and a lip guard including a lip shield, a mounting element, a second retention element, wherein the mounting receiver engages the mounting element to removably connect the lip guard to the tooth guard, and wherein the retention element engages the second retention element to secure the lip guard to the tooth guard until a separating force is applied.
LOW PROFILE ARTICULATION JAW JOINT STABILIZER DEVICE
The diagnosed soft tissue or brain injury component of concussions is generally defined by the symptoms of the temporal lobe manifestations. However, there is an undiagnosed structural fractured component of concussions occurring within the jaw joint complex which is the focus of this invention. A precise imaging technique and the powerful 3D Cone beam scanning technology, together, have revealed fractures in temporal bones of the jaw joint space which supports the temporal lobe of the brain. These fractures are the results of the lower jaw impact forces that cause concussions and this mechanism account for a large percent of the concussions arising in sports and military operations. These fractures have never been considered, diagnosed, or treated in the management of concussions. Fracturing temporal bones in the jaw joint that supports the temporal lobe will certainly produce the symptoms of temporal lobe manifestations. With early detection, these fractures can be more rapidly healed, eliminating many temporal lobe symptoms of concussions. The device of the present invention reduces the risk of the lower jaw impact concussion and temporal bone fractures, while enhancing the ability to speak and orally communicate.
PROTECTIVE ORAL APPLIANCE
A protective oral appliance for protecting the teeth and jaws of a user from injuries during physical activity or sports. The oral appliance includes an upper mouthpiece coupled to a lower mouthpiece, and holes passing through the upper mouthpiece and/or through the lower mouthpiece to allow air to pass through the upper and/or lower mouthpieces and into the user's mouth. The oral appliance also may include an open airway positioned between the upper and lower mouthpieces.
