Body limb protection system
11478026 · 2022-10-25 ·

A body limb protection system includes an outer layer, an inner layer, and a force dampening and defusing structure. The outer layer includes a first material composition and has an exterior surface that includes a substantially planer area. The inner layer includes a second material composition and has a shape corresponding to a body limb portion. The force dampening and defusing structure is positioned between the inner layer and the outer layer. The force dampening and defusing structure has a shape corresponding to a difference between the shapes of the inner and outer layers. The force dampening and defusing structure includes a plurality of components arranged to reduce pressure on the body limb portion when a force is applied to the substantially planer area.

Protective foam material and pads

A protective foam material and pads are disclosed herein. The material is a rounded foam pellet having a hole through the center of the pellet. The pellets may be arranged and interconnected to form a pad. These pads may be applied to persons, animals, or other objects for protective functions.

Chest protector

A chest pad that significantly reduces the occurrence of commotio cordis among athletes is disclosed. The chest pad may be utilized as a stand-alone chest protector intended to provide coverage primarily for the upper chest wall and the cardiac area. The chest pad may also be implanted into or utilized in traditional chest protectors that provide full coverage of the user's torso. The chest pad provides additional protection to the heart of the wearer such that impact in the heart area with a projectile is absorbed by the chest pad.

Helmet and shoulder pad assembly

A helmet and shoulder pad assembly for protecting a user from a concussion injury includes a pair of shoulder pads that is wearable on a user's shoulders during athletic activity. A helmet is hingedly coupled to the shoulder pads and the helmet is positionable in a closed position to cover the user's head. The helmet is coupled to the shoulder pads when the helmet is positioned in the closed position thereby facilitating the helmet to transfer impact energy into the shoulder pads. In this way the helmet inhibits the user from suffering a concussion injury. The helmet is positionable in an open position to expose the user's head.

PROTECTIVE FOOTBALL EQUIPMENT APPARATUS WITH ALTERNATIVE TACKLING ELEMENT
20220258028 · 2022-08-18 ·

An apparatus provides for a modified form of tackling in American football. A handle may be coupled to an article of protective equipment worn by players. The handle may project outwardly from the player and defenders may “tackle” a ball carrier by grabbing onto one or more of the handles present on the ball carrier's equipment, the grasping of which may be considered ending the play and the ball carrier's progress may be terminated. In this way, players may still learn to execute the fundamentals for tackling while the ball carrier is protected from high impact hits to the head or body. The ball carrier may also be protected from injuries that occur from being thrown to the ground since the use of handles may obviate the need for the ball carrier to be down by contact with the ground.

Protective Structure For Protective Garments And Equipment
20220095712 · 2022-03-31 ·

A protective structure for protective garments and equipment is disclosed having a flat curved plate like object which includes a mesh structure having a multitude of holes. The holes in the mesh structure or parts of the holes in the mesh structure have rim structures extending towards a user of the protective structure when the protective structure is in use. Between the rim structures are channels. The channels improve air circulation beneath the protective structure and the rim structures enhances the impact spreading and elasticity of the protective structure. A continuous border frame surrounds the mesh structure. The protective structure has a first surface and a second surface, and the second surface is oriented towards the user when the protective structure is in use.

Protective headgear, impact diffusing systems and methods

An impact diffusing system for protecting a user's head includes a headpiece cage coupled to a thoracic framework. In one aspect, the headpiece cage includes at least two support bars, a plurality of rigid bars surrounding at least a portion of the forehead, top, and sides of the head, and a face mask that encloses at least a portion the user's face. The thoracic framework covers at least a portion of a chest, upper back, and shoulders of the user, and the thoracic framework is attached to the support bars of the headpiece cage in a manner that prevents movement of the headpiece cage relative to the thoracic framework. In another aspect, the system includes a helmet component (formed of e.g., carbon fiber) coupled to a thoracic cage, wherein the helmet component is a solid, unitary piece that surrounds the top, back, and sides of the user's head.

FOAM-PLASTIC PROTECTOR

A foam-plastic protector includes a foam insert having a front surface and a rear surface. A plastic sleeve is harder than the foam insert and has a base and an overlapping portion spaced from the base to define a gap. The foam insert is received against the base and inter-locked with the plastic sleeve. A covered portion of the foam insert is positioned within the gap and covered by the overlapping portion of the plastic sleeve. A remainder of the foam insert is exposed. A protective sport padding and a method of assembling same are also disclosed. The foam insert may be fixedly attached to the protective sport padding.

ATHLETIC GEAR OR OTHER DEVICES COMPRISING POST-MOLDED EXPANDABLE COMPONENTS

A device (e.g., an article of athletic gear) comprising a post-molded expandable component, which is a part of the device that is configured to be expanded or has been expanded after being molded. This may allow the post-molded expandable component to have enhanced characteristics (e.g., be more shock-absorbent, lighter, etc.), to be cost-effectively manufactured (e.g., by using less material and/or making it in various sizes), and/or to be customized for a user (e.g., by custom-fitting it to the user).
