Rotary Contact System Intended to be Incorporated into the Tubular Conductors of a High-Voltage Switch
The present invention relates to electrical devices, and more specifically to movable contact assemblies that are used in a high-voltage switch, such as a rotary contact system intended to be incorporated into the tubular conductors of a high-voltage switch, which includes: a main pin; a first assembly, consisting of a primary tubular conductor and a male cylindrical conductor; a second assembly, consisting of a secondary fitting, a secondary conductor, and a female cylindrical conductor, with the said second assembly being coupled rotatively to the first assembly by means of the main pin.
SIDE BREAK AIR SWITCH WITH ANTI-ROLLING BLADE LOCK
A high voltage, high current, switching device includes a jaw assembly electrically connected to a first electrical conductor, a housing assembly electrically connected to a second electrical conductor and a blade assembly fixedly attached to the housing assembly at a first end thereof. The blade assembly has an electrically conductive blade contact fixedly attached to a second end distal from the first end. Further, the housing assembly and the blade assembly pivot about a first axis to drive the blade contact into the jaw assembly to close the switch and the blade assembly is operable to rotate about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis only when the distal end of the blade assembly is seated in the jaw assembly. Thus, the blade does not pivot about its longitudinal axis prematurely, for example, before it is properly seated in the electrical terminal.
System and method for operating an electrical switch
A switch including a first electrical terminal, the first electrical terminal including a blade pivotable between an open position and a closed position, and a rod extending from the first electrical terminal parallel to the blade. The switch further includes a second electrical terminal configured to receive the blade when in the closed position, the second electrical terminal including a vacuum interrupter, wherein the vacuum interrupter engages the rod when in the closed position. Rotating the first electrical terminal in a first direction causes the blade to disengage from the second electrical terminal at a first point, and further rotating the first electrical terminal in the first direction causes the rod to disengage from the vacuum interrupter at a second point.
Side break air switch with anti-rolling blade lock
A blade assembly for an electrical switch. The blade assembly including a rocker assembly configured to enable rotation of said blade assembly. The rocker assembly including: a first rocker component, said first rocker component having a first rocker pin, and a second rocker component, said second rocker component having a second rocker pin that depresses when said first rocker pin is depressed.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING AN ELECTRICAL SWITCH
A switch may include a first electrical terminal, the first electrical terminal including a blade configured to move between an open position and a closed position, and a rod extending from the first electrical terminal, wherein the rod includes a rod receiving portion, and wherein the rod is configured to move between a first position and a second position. The switch may include a second electrical terminal configured to receive the blade when in the closed position, the second electrical terminal including a vacuum interrupter, and a vacuum interrupter rod, wherein, during a closing of the switch, while the blade moves from the open position to the closed position, the rod receiving portion engages the vacuum interrupter rod, thereby moving the rod receiving portion from the first position to the second position.
High voltage disconnect switch with switch interrupter having an actuating arm actuated by an arc horn with a spring catch
A high voltage air disconnect switch having an electrical load interrupter unit responsive to the opening of the high voltage air break disconnect switch. The electrical load interrupter unit including an actuating arm is contacted, during the opening of the switch, by a moving arc horn attached to and in electrical circuit with a switch blade of the high voltage air disconnect switch. The moving arc horn has operatively attached a spring catch which engages the actuating arm with a physical holding force applied to an electric contact point between the actuating arm and the moving arc horn to firmly capture the interrupter actuating arm against the moving arc horn during opening of the switch to prevent any arc burning damage due to arcing between the actuating arm and the moving arc horn as the switch opens.
