A method of manufacturing a secondary battery includes manufacturing an electrode assembly by winding a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator together; attaching a tape to cover an outermost edge portion of the electrode assembly; accommodating the electrode assembly in a battery casing having an open end; and removing the tape attached to the electrode assembly from the electrode assembly. The tape includes a first portion attached to the electrode assembly, and a second portion extending from the first portion in a first direction towards the open end of the battery casing. In the removing the tape, the tape is removed by pulling the second portion.

SECONDARY BATTERY

According to the present disclosure, a secondary battery in which precipitation of metallic lithium can be inhibited more appropriately is provided. The secondary battery disclosed here includes a flat wound electrode body. The wound electrode body has a pair of curved portions and a flat portion. In addition, a positive electrode starting end portion inside the wound electrode body has a first region extending along the flat portion. On the other hand, a negative electrode starting end portion inside the wound electrode body has a second region extending along the flat portion, a folded portion folded back along a first curved portion, and a third region extending from the folded portion along the flat portion. In addition, in the wound electrode body, an electrode starting end stacked portion in which the first region, the second region, and the third region overlap each other is formed in a part of the flat portion, and a positive electrode terminating end portion and a negative electrode terminating end portion are disposed in the first curved portion. According to such a configuration, a local pressing failure and non-uniform heat generation distribution can be appropriately prevented, and the precipitation of metallic lithium can be inhibited.

A method of adhering a tape to a rechargeable battery is provided. The method includes contacting one surface of a rechargeable battery with an attachment surface of a tape via an attachment roller interposed therebetween, rotating the attachment roller in a first direction to adhere the tape to the one surface of the rechargeable battery maintaining a rotation of the attachment roller while moving the rechargeable battery in the direction away from the attachment roller to linearly contact the tape and one surface of the rechargeable battery and cutting the tape.

According to this application, the terminating end of the first electrode plate is set to exceed the second electrode plate by at least half a turn.

The winding shaft of the present application can reduce the possibility of or the amount of misalignment between the tabs.

According to the present disclosure, the breakage of an exterior body due to rising deformation of an electrode terminal can be prevented. The manufacturing method herein disclosed includes the steps of: bringing a lower surface of a terminal connecting part into contact with a first terminal, and bringing an upper surface of the terminal connecting part into contact with a second terminal; interposing the terminal connecting part, the first terminal, and the second terminal between a horn and an anvil, and carrying out ultrasonic welding; and accommodating the electrode body into the exterior body. Such a manufacturing method is characterized in that a width dimension of the horn is longer than a width dimension of the second terminal, and a width dimension of the anvil is longer than the width dimension of the second terminal. This can prevent rising deformation of the electrode terminal, and can prevent breakage of the exterior body by the deformed electrode terminal.
