The present invention relates to a battery pack having a cooling unit provided outside a pack case, and more particularly a battery pack including a battery module (100) including one or more unit cells; a case (200) having a receiving portion configured to receive the battery module (100); a cooling unit (300) located at an outer bottom surface of the case (200); and a reinforcement member (400) configured to protect the cooling unit (300).

Disclosed is a battery module with improved manufacturing efficiency and improved cooling efficiency. The battery module includes a plurality of secondary batteries; and a cooling member configured so that the plurality of secondary batteries are mounted thereto, and the cooling member includes an upper frame having a plate shape with a predetermined length so that the plurality of secondary batteries are mounted to a first surface thereof; and a lower frame coupled to a second surface of the upper frame on a side opposite the first surface and having a coolant channel configured so that a coolant flows through the coolant channel.

A battery module and a battery pack including the same are provided. Battery cells are manufactured in the form of a module, and thus, even when the specifications of the battery pack are changed depending on a vehicle kind, the standardized battery cells are applicable to battery packs having various specifications and a separate design process for disposing the battery cells in the battery pack may be omitted, thereby reducing the development period and costs of a new battery pack. Further, plural temperature sensors configured to measure the temperatures of the battery cells are provided so as to provide the optimum environment to the battery cells, and the respective temperature sensors may not be located inside the battery module so as to be easily managed. Moreover, surface pressure performance due to end plates may be secured even when the temperature sensors are located outside the battery module.

A battery module and a battery pack including the same are provided. A cold plate for a battery may comprise channels that extend from a first end of the plate to a second end of the plate or from a first side of the plate to a second side of the plate, the channels are located in parallel with each other and between the top surface and the bottom surface. The channels may be separated from each other by walls. The plate may be milled to form a first manifold on each end. The plate may also be milled to form notches in the surface(s) over the manifold. A port for the inlet and a port for the outlet of a working fluid may be inserted into the notches. The plate may have end caps, and the end caps and the ports may be welded or brazed to form a sealed enclosure. In various embodiment, the plate is an extruded plate, a cast plate, or a stamped/formed plate.

A cold plate for a battery may comprise channels that extend from a first end of the plate to a second end of the plate or from a first side of the plate to a second side of the plate, the channels are located in parallel with each other and between the top surface and the bottom surface. The channels may be separated from each other by walls. The plate may be milled to form a first manifold on each end. The plate may also be milled to form notches in the surface(s) over the manifold. A port for the inlet and a port for the outlet of a working fluid may be inserted into the notches. The plate may have end caps, and the end caps and the ports may be welded or brazed to form a sealed enclosure. In various embodiment, the plate is an extruded plate, a cast plate, or a stamped/formed plate.

A battery pack is provided. The battery pack includes a battery cell assembly including at least a battery cell, a heat dissipation member, and a plate member; and an exterior case. The heat dissipation member and the plate member are disposed in this order on one or both of an electrode of the battery cell and a side surface of the battery cell along a direction in which the battery cell assembly is assembled in the exterior case.

A battery pack is provided. The battery pack includes a battery cell assembly including at least a battery cell, a heat dissipation member, and a plate member; and an exterior case. The heat dissipation member and the plate member are disposed in this order on one or both of an electrode of the battery cell and a side surface of the battery cell along a direction in which the battery cell assembly is assembled in the exterior case.

A battery module including: a battery stack of battery cells having opposite ends to which a plurality of electrode tabs are connected; end-side bus bar assemblies formed at opposite ends of the battery stack, respectively, and electrically connecting the electrode tabs of the battery cells; and a case accommodating the battery stack and the end-side bus bar assemblies.
