A linear multiband waveguide feed network device, which includes a first section, a second section, a third section and an inverse-ridge receive (Rx)-reject filter. The second section is coupled to the first section via a first split-plane. The third section is coupled to the second section via a second split-plane. The inverse-ridge Rx-reject filter is implemented as a first half-portion and a second half-portion. The first half-portion and the second half-portion are implemented in the second section and the third section, respectively. The first split-plane and the second split-plane are on a zero-current region of the device.

Guided wave launcher with aperture control and methods for use therewith

In accordance with one or more embodiments, a system includes an array of antennas. A plurality of transceivers is configured to generate first signals, in response to control signals. A controller is configured to generate the control signals to control, via the plurality of transceivers, an antenna aperture of the array of antennas. The array of antennas is configured to generate, in response to first signals, radiated waves according to the antenna aperture of the array of antennas, the radiated waves inducing a first guided electromagnetic wave that is guided by a surface of a transmission medium and propagates along the transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path.

PHASE-CONTROLLED ANTENNA ELEMENT

A phase-controlled antenna element includes a waveguide emitter with signal output or signal injection, into which a rotatable phase control element is introduced, and a drive unit. The phase control element comprises in this case a holder, at least two polarizers which are fastened to the holder, and a connecting element. Each of the at least two polarizers can convert a circularly polarized signal into a linearly polarized signal. The phase control element is rotatably fitted in the waveguide emitter and is connected to the drive unit with the aid of the connecting element in such a manner that the drive unit can rotate the phase control element about the axis of the waveguide emitter.

METHOD FOR UPGRADING A SATELLITE ANTENNA ASSEMBLY AND AN ASSOCIATED UPGRADABLE SATELLITE ANTENNA ASSEMBLY

A method for upgrading a dual-band antenna assembly to a tri-band antenna assembly is provided. The dual-band antenna assembly includes a main reflector, and first and second antenna feeds arranged in a coaxial relationship and directed toward the main reflector. The first and second antenna feeds are for first and second frequency bands, respectively. The method includes positioning a third antenna feed through a medial opening in a center of the main reflector, with the third antenna feed directed towards the first and second antenna feeds. The third antenna feed is for a third frequency band. A subreflector is positioned between the main reflector and the first and second antenna feeds. The subreflector includes a frequency selective surface (FSS) material that is reflective for the third frequency band and transmissive for both the first and second frequency bands.

A septum orthomode transducer polarizer (SPOL) is presented comprising sidewall ridges which increase bandwidth in the presence of draft angles for injection molding manufacturing techniques. A SPOL with sidewall ridges is able to accommodate draft angles for injection molding while creating greater modal separation within the SPOL and increasing the resultant bandwidth. A horn aperture may be included with the SPOL, and the combined structure may be injection molded as a single part to realize significant cost and mass reductions.

Antenna assemblies are described herein. In particular, described herein are multi-focal-point antenna devices and compact radio frequency (RF) antenna devices. Any of these assemblies may include a primary feed that includes a single patterned emitting surface from which multiple different beams of RF signals are emitted corresponding to different antenna input feeds each communicating with the patterned antenna emitting surface. The antenna assembly is therefore capable of emitting beams in the same direction having different polarizations using a single primary feed. Also described herein are compact RF antenna devices having a lightpipe that passes through the single patterned emitting surface.
