CONNECTION ENCLOSURE ASSEMBLIES, CONNECTOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FORMING AN ENCLOSED CONNECTION BETWEEN CONDUCTORS
An enclosed connection system for mechanically and electrically connecting first and second cables, the cables each including an elongate electrical conductor covered by an insulation layer, includes an insulation piercing connector and an enclosure. The insulation piercing connector includes at least one electrically conductive piercing member and a clamping mechanism. The clamping mechanism is configured and operable to force the at least one piercing member through the insulation layers of the first and second cables and into electrical engagement with the conductors of the first and second cables such that the conductors of the first and second cables are electrically connected to one another through the at least one piercing member. The enclosure is configured to receive and cover the connection and to protect the insulation piercing connector.
Methods and apparatus for rendering electrical cables safe
A safe grounding apparatus (SGA) for safely grounding or neutralizing the electrical conductors for permanent magnet motor (PMM) powered artificial lift systems and methods of practicing the same are disclosed. The SGA of the present invention ameliorates some of the dangers associated with PMM's. Methods of shorting, grounding, testing and monitoring the electrical conductors of a permanent magnet motor in order to safely manipulate the conductors are also disclosed.

INSULATION PIERCING TAP CONNECTOR
A tap connector that includes a tap body and an insulation piercing assembly or module is provided. The insulation piercing assembly is secured to the tap body and movable relative to the tap body. The insulation piercing assembly includes a conductive body, at least two sets of electrically conductive insulation piercing teeth secured to the conductive body and a non-conductive cap or coating covering the teeth. When the teeth pierce the non-conductive caps or coating exposing the teeth, the teeth can pierce insulation surrounding the main and tap conductors creating an electrically conductive path between the main conductor and the tap conductor.

Clamping assembly for attaching a grounding conductor to a structure having a protective coating
A clamping assembly for attaching a grounding conductor to a pipe having a protective coating includes an elongate conductive strap and a clamp. The conductive strap is sufficiently long to circumferentially surround the pipe and has longitudinally spaced sharp projections that are sufficient to penetrate the protective coating around the pipe to make an electrical coupling between the strap and a conductive part of the pipe beneath the protective coating. The clamp is coupled to the grounding conductor and clamps the conductive strap to the pipe at a tension sufficient to maintain an electrical connection between the conductive part of the pipe and the grounding conductor without the need for any welding of the grounding conductor to the pipe and without the need for any stripping of the protective coating from the pipe.
