ATTACHABLE, ARMOR-PIERCING SHUNTING DEVICE
20250007186 · 2025-01-02 ·

An attachable, armor-piercing shunting device utilizing a reversibly engageable enclosure configured to receive a cable such as an electric submersible pump cable. Piercing elements arranged around the enclosure body are passed through the enclosure body's sides to contact and penetrate any cable armor and shunt the cable. The enclosure body may be hinged with a reversible locking mechanism (such as a spring pin) to facilitate installation of the enclosure body around a cable.

Insulation piercing connector

An insulation piercing connector includes a body having a bore extending therethrough. One or more clamps secure the body to an electrical cable At least a portion of the bore is threaded or a threaded member is associated therewith. A piercing pin is threadingly engaged with the bore threads or the threaded member and includes a first end configured to pierce the insulation of the electrical cable and contact a conductor as the piercing pin is rotated in a first direction. The piercing pin includes a head that is configured to shear off as a result of torque exceeding a predetermined value after the first end contacts the conductor. The probe of a sensor can contact the second end of the piercing pin to obtain information from the conductor, such as voltage, current, and/or thermal information.

Method for connecting an electrical component to a component support, and device

The invention relates to a method for connecting an electric component to an electrical component support and an electrical component for an electrical component support, in particular for a motor vehicle. According to the invention, an electric component is connected to an electrical component support which comprises a base part and an electrical conductor paths arranged therein. At least one electric contact connected to the electrical component is moved in the base part such that the electric contact is electrically connected to the conductor path. The invention also relates to two electric contacts which are connected to the electric components and which are connected, according to the claims, to two different conductor paths in the base part. Said electric components can comprise more than two electric contacts, which according to the claimed method, are connected to the conductor paths of the base part.
