Flame-proof connectors

Various electrical connector assemblies are disclosed. The electrical connector assembly can include a pin and a socket. An outer surface of the pin can have an external thread and an annular groove that has an outside diameter that is less than an outside diameter of an adjacent leading flange. The socket can have an internal thread that mates with the external thread on the pin. The connector can comprise independent securing features, such as a threaded connection and a ball detent connection. The connector can be configured such that disengagement of the first connection feature results in disconnection of mating electrical contacts of the pin and socket. In some variants, the second connection feature remains engaged and/or is disengaged independently of the first connection feature.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING CONNECTOR

A charging connector is provided. The charging connector includes a body having a first body end and a second body end. The charging connector also includes a cable connected to the first body end. The cable houses at least one conductor. The charging connector also includes at least one contact positioned at the second body end and electrically coupled to the at least one conductor. The charging connector also includes a mating interface connected to the second body end. The mating interface has a shroud and at least one contact dome that encloses the at least one contact. The at least one contact dome is at least partially formed of a first material having a first flammability resistance, and the shroud is at least partially formed of a second material having a second flammability resistance. The first flammability resistance is higher than the second flammability resistance.

Flame retardant block copolymers from renewable feeds

A flame retardant block copolymer is prepared from renewable content. In an exemplary synthetic method, a bio-derived flame retardant block copolymer is prepared by a ring opening polymerization of a biobased cyclic ester and a phosphorus-containing polymer. In some embodiments, the biobased cyclic ester is lactide. In some embodiments, the phosphorus-containing polymer is a hydroxyl-telechelic flame retardant biopolymer prepared by a polycondensation reaction of a biobased diol (e.g., isosorbide) and a phosphorus-containing monomer (e.g., phenylphosphonic dichloride). In other embodiments, the phosphorus-containing polymer is synthesized from a dioxaphospholane monomer.

Halogen-free, flame resistant and hydrolysis resistant polymer compositions are disclosed. The polymer composition contains a thermoplastic polymer, such as polybutylene terephthalate. The thermoplastic polymer is combined with a flame retardant that can include a phosphinate, a phosphite, and a nitrogen-containing synergist. In addition, the composition can contain various hydrolysis resistant components. For instance, the polyester polymer incorporated into the composition can have a relatively low amount of carboxyl end groups. In addition, the composition can contain reinforcing fibers that are coated with a hydrolysis resistant agent. The composition can also contain an organometallic compatibilizer.
