Frictional locking receptacle with programmable release

A method and apparatus for securing an electrical connection formed by a mating structure including prongs of a male assembly and receptacles of a female assembly are provided. In certain embodiments, the electrical connection can be secured by frictional engagement between the plug and receptacle housings. This can be accomplished by forcing a wedge into an interface between the housings or expanding a locking element, such as an elastomeric ring, into the interface. Such locking and releasing of the secure connection can be actuated using a locking nut.

A protective cover for a connector can having a top cover having a top cover connector end and a top cover cord end, a bottom cover pivotally connected to the top cover having a bottom cover connector end and a bottom cover cord end, a bias applying a force to cause the top cover cord end to abut the bottom cover cord end, and a connector void disposed on the bottom cover for receiving a connector adjacent a connector tray for supporting the connector. A cord with a connector can be inserted into the protective cover for a connector through the bottom cover. The cord can be inserted through the cord void and the connector can be inserted through the connector void. The protective cover can then be displaced slightly to allow the connector to rest on the connector tray.

Electrical receptacle with locking feature

An electrical receptacle unit with locking feature includes a receptacle adapted to be electrically connected to a source of electricity. The receptacle includes an electrical fitting having electrical contacts contained therein and/or extending therefrom, a socket surrounding the electrical fitting, and a plate disposed at a front of the socket. The electrical receptacle unit further includes a locking bracket that includes a central portion having first and second ends, a lock tab extending from a side of the central portion, and a pair of support arms, each extending forwardly from a respective one of the first and second ends. The locking bracket is pivotably secured to the plate, with at least a portion of each support arm positioned within a respective notched area of the plate. The locking bracket is pivotable relative to the plate between a first position, whereby a plug electrically seated within the socket is unobstructed, and a second position, whereby the plug electrically seated within the socket is obstructed from removal by the lock tab.

Wind-protection casing and plug-connector device comprising same

A wind-protection casing includes a plastic shell having a first partial shell and a second partial shell, wherein the first partial shell and the second partial shell surround an accommodating space and form a first and second line opening, which connect the accommodating space with the surrounding region outside the accommodating space. A retaining means is provided with an accommodating geometry for a line plug connector, which is arranged on the first partial shell and is designed in such a way that a line plug connector accommodated by the accommodating geometry is retained in the accommodating space at a distance from the first partial shell and the second partial shell via an air gap. A plug-connector device including such a wind-protection casing of this type is also provided, wherein a line plug connector is accommodated in the accommodating geometry.

A tensile-force buffering apparatus interposes a physical structure and a drop clamp having a messenger of an input drop cable secured thereto. The tensile-force buffering apparatus includes an outer housing defining an elongate inner cavity and a retainer, and a spring-strut assembly. The spring-strut assembly includes a central shaft, a retention member at a first end of the central shaft, and a coil spring disposed about the central shaft. The spring-strut assembly is received in the cavity of the outer housing, and the retention member is held by the retainer while a load compressing the coil spring is less than a predetermined threshold load. The retention member is released from the outer housing when the load compressing the coil spring reaches the predetermined threshold load, thereby effecting separation of the spring-strut assembly from the outer housing.

Electrical unit and assembly

An electrical unit includes a housing member, a slider configured to slide along an outer surface of the housing member and selectively retain an electrical connector relative to the housing member, and a bracket connected to the housing member. The bracket may restrict movement of the slider in at least one direction. The slider may include a collar and/or a leg. The leg may extend substantially perpendicularly from the collar. The electrical unit may include a second bracket. The housing member may include a first bracket recess and/or a second bracket recess.
