The described connector assemblies are useful in wire-to-board systems. Some assemblies include a free-end connector that is attached to a twin-ax cable, and a fixed-end connector that is attached to a board. Embodiments include a free-end terminal set including a first signal terminal, a second signal terminal and a ground plate. The ground plate has a horseshoe shape and provides a ground terminal on opposing sides of the first and second signal terminals. Additionally, embodiments include a locking system between the free-end connector and fixed-end connector, and lead designs for the fixed-end connector utilizing a similar horseshoe shape as that used for the ground plate of the free-end connector.

The shielding plate is provided with an ingenious grounding structure, such as alternately arranged concave strips and convex strips, and has a good grounding function. The high-speed backplane connector provided in the present application includes a plurality of terminal modules and an insulative shell for receiving the terminal modules. Each terminal module includes a plurality of pairs of differential signal terminals arranged in a terminal row, a plurality of conductive spacers arranged in the terminal row at intervals, and a shielding plate; the shielding plate is fixed on one side of a fixing frame and connected with the conductive spacers; the pair of differential signal terminals can be shielded by arranging the concave strips and the convex strips, effectively reducing interference and crosstalk between the adjacent pairs of differential signal terminals.

The connector terminal includes an insulation body and multiple terminal bodies. Each of the multiple terminal bodies includes: a base part, an elastic arm and a welding part. The base part includes a first base part and a second base part, the first base part and the second base part form a bending structure, a first end of the first base part is embedded in the insulation body, a second end of the first base part is connected to a first end of the second base part, and a second end of the second base part is embedded in the insulation body. The elastic arm is connected to the first end of the first base part and extends out of a first end of the insulation body. The welding part is connected to the second end of the second base part and extends out of a second end of the insulation body.

A connector includes a connector body and a terminal attached to the connector body, the connector being fitted with a counterpart connector, the connector body includes a recess being fitted with a counterpart connector body of the counterpart connector and side walls extending in a longitudinal direction of the connector body, the side walls defining both sides of the recess. The terminal includes a plurality of terminals disposed along each of the side walls, and the plurality of terminals disposed along each of the side walls include one high frequency terminal and ground terminals disposed on both sides of the high frequency terminal. In plan view, a straight line connecting high frequency terminals disposed along both the side walls is inclined with respect to a center line of the connector body in a width direction, and a shield plate of the counterpart connector is extends along the center line.
