CRIMPING ASSEMBLY, TOOL AND DIE DESIGN
A die set can be provided for use in a crimping tool to crimp a connector onto a conductor. A first die of the die set can include a mating surface and a working surface. The mating surface can selectively mate with the crimping tool. The working surface can include an indenting member that projects away from the mating surface to form an indentation in the connector when the connector is crimped to the conductor by the crimping tool. The indenting member can include a plurality of non-planar faces, each of the plurality of non-planar faces including a concave portion.
PORTABLE CRIMPING TOOL FOR STRAP
A sealing tool for forming a crimp-type joint in a seal positioned on overlapping courses of strap includes a body and a motor and drive train housed in the body. The tool includes an inertia storage element to reduce power consumption. A crimping assembly is mounted to the body and coupled to the motor through the drive train. The crimping assembly includes a pair of opposing jaw elements pivotable toward one another to contact and form crimps in the seal and the strapping material. A guide pin operably connects the drive train to the jaw elements. A side plate encloses the crimping assembly and includes an elongated, slotted opening. A bearing element is mounted to the guide pin and positioned in the slotted opening. The bearing element facilitates movement of the guide pin as it moves through the slotted opening to pivot the jaw elements to the closed position. A seal position element provides indication that the seal is properly positioned in the crimping assembly.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND DIE SET WITH A CONNECTOR GUIDE
Die sets for crimping busses to electrical connectors are provided. The die set includes a pair of dies where one die has a guide member for aligning the dies with the electrical connector, and the other die has a one or more indentors for impacting the electrical connector. The electrical connectors include a guide hole that receives the guide member.
Dieless crimping tool
A crimping tool with a housing, a motor, a switch connected to the motor for activating the motor, a pump driven by the motor, a piston driven by the pump, an indenter operably connected to the piston, and a tool head connected to the housing, wherein a workpiece can be disposed between the tool head and the indenter. A current sensor is connected to the motor for sensing current flowing through the motor. A processor receives current data from the current sensor, the processor analyzing the current data to determine completion of a crimping operation and/or an error condition. A display connected to the processor can indicate completion of a crimping operation and/or an error condition.
TOOL DRIVE ASSEMBLY WITH INTEGRATED MAGNETIC DISPLACEMENT MONITORING SYSTEM
A drive assembly for portable, hand-held, battery powered tools is provided. The drive assembly includes a motor, a gear assembly, a lead drive shaft, a jaw drive member and a magnetic displacement monitoring system. The gear assembly is coupled to the motor and the lead drive shaft is operatively coupled to the gear assembly. The magnetic displacement monitoring system has at least one magnet coupled to the lead drive shaft, at least one magnetic field sensor disposed adjacent to the magnet, and a processing element electrically coupled to the magnetic field sensor. As the motor runs, the lead drive shaft rotates about an axis and the jaw drive member moves along the lead drive shaft. The magnetic field sensor senses the change in magnetic field and sends at least one signal to the processing element which determines the location of the jaw drive member along the lead drive shaft.
TOOL DRIVE ASSEMBLY WITH INTEGRATED LEAD DRIVE SHAFT
A drive assembly for portable, hand-held, battery powered tools is provided. The tool may be configured as a crimping tool, a cutting tool or other type of tool. The tool has an in-line handle assembly and a working head assembly. The drive assembly includes a drive assembly housing, a gear assembly, a lead drive shaft and a bearing system. The gear assembly is a multi-stage gear assembly having an input tier and an output tier. The input tier is operatively connected to a motor and the output tier is connected to a lead drive shaft. The lead drive shaft has a proximal end extending into a distal end portion of the drive assembly housing. The bearing system is positioned within the drive assembly housing adjacent the output tier of the gear assembly. The bearing system is interactive with the lead drive shaft enabling the drive assembly to withstand radial and axial loads as the lead drive shaft is rotated during an operation of the tool.
Systems and methods for evaluating crimp applications
Systems and methods for evaluating a crimping application. A power tool includes a pair of jaws configured to crimp a workpiece, a piston cylinder configured to actuate at least one of the pair of jaws, and a pressure sensor configured to provide pressure signals associated with a crimping application. The power tool also includes an electronic processor connected to the pressure sensor. The electronic processor is configured to monitor, while performing the crimping application, a pressure applied by the piston cylinder, construct a pressure curve indicative of a change in the pressure applied during the crimping application, process the pressure curve into a vector indicative of one or more features, evaluate the crimping application based on the vector, and provide an output indicative of the evaluation.
METHOD OF OPERATING A HYDRODYNAMIC COMPRESSION TOOL AND HYDRODYNAMIC COMPRESSION TOOL
A hydrodynamic compression tool (1) comprises a motor (6) which actuates a hydrodynamic group (11) suitable to increase the pressure of a hydraulic fluid acting on an actuation piston (12) connected to jaws (13, 14), an electronic control system (9) connected to the electric motor (6) and to a user operating member (7) for the actuation of the electric motor (6) wherein the control system (9) monitors the reaching of a closed position of the jaws (13, 14) and switches off the motor (6) automatically upon reaching the closed position.
Portable dieless hand held power tools
Portable, hand held, battery operated, dieless, hydraulic crimping tools are provided with a working head and a tool frame. The working head has a head frame with an open access to a working area of the working head. The open access may be in the form of a C-shape. The working head has a nest to receive a crimping member. An indentor is attached to a piston within the tool frame. The piston moves the indentor between a home position adjacent the tool frame and an indenting position where the indentor impacts the crimping member.
LASER GUIDED TOOLS
Tools for crimping or cutting of an object such as a wire, cable, or connector. The tool includes a first member and a second member configured to come together through a gap to crimp or cut a wire, cable or connector and a laser positioned to visually indicate a region where at least one member traverses as the first and second member come together through the gap. This visual indication aids in alignment of the object for the crimping or cutting operation.
