System and Method for Measuring Time-Frequency Characteristic of High-Frequency Electromagnetic Signal
This invention disclosed a system and method for characteristics measurement of electromagnetic signals. The measurement system comprises a multi-repetition-rate pulsed light source, a frequency mixer for electrical signal and optical signal, and a data acquisition and processing device. The measurement system accurately determines the characteristic information of the signal to be measured, such as frequency, phase, intensity, and their variations, by measuring the low frequency mixed signal generated by the multi-repetition-rate pulsed light source and the signal to be measured in the frequency mixer. This system has the advantages of simple structure, high measurement accuracy, low cost and large measurable frequency range. The system can be applied to the measurement of various electromagnetic signals, covering the spectral range from microwave, millimeter wave, to terahertz and even light wave.
LASER DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING WAVEFORM
A laser device is a laser device that includes an output unit that outputs seed light to a light amplifying unit. The output unit has a light source unit that outputs, as the seed light, rays of light with a plurality of wavelengths lying within a gain range of the light amplifying unit, and a seed light control unit that controls an intensity-time waveform of the seed light output from the light source unit.
Lidar system with distributed laser and multiple sensor heads
In one embodiment, a lidar system includes a light source configured to emit pulses of light. The lidar system also includes multiple optical links and multiple sensor heads. Each optical link couples the light source to a corresponding sensor head, and each optical link is configured to convey at least a portion of the emitted pulses of light from the light source to the corresponding sensor head. Each sensor head includes a scanner configured to scan pulses of light across a field of regard of the sensor head, where the scanned pulses of light include the portion of the emitted pulses of light conveyed from the light source to the sensor head by the corresponding optical link. Each sensor head also includes a receiver configured to detect at least a portion of the scanned pulses of light scattered or reflected by a target located downrange from the sensor head.
Heterodyne starring array active imager
A heterodyne starring array active imager for producing an image. The imager comprises a light source intermittently illuminating a scene and an array of light collecting sites imaging the scene, each one comprising: a coupling component optically coupling scene light into a first waveguide and a local oscillator light coupled into a second waveguide. The first and second waveguides coupled to a third waveguide such that the scene light and local oscillator light propagate into the third waveguide. A square law photo detector associated with each light collecting site receives the merged light for heterodyning the scene light and the local oscillator light. Components receive and process the heterodyned light from the photo detectors to produce a frame signal for each light collecting site. A read-out device produces an array signal responsive to the frame signal from each light collecting site.
Multi-wavelength laser system for optical data communication links and associated methods
A laser light generator is configured to generate one or more wavelengths of continuous wave laser light. The laser light generator is configured to collectively and simultaneously transmit each of the wavelengths of continuous wave laser light through an optical output of the laser light generator as a laser light supply. An optical fiber is connected to receive the laser light supply from the optical output of the laser light generator. An optical distribution network has an optical input connected to receive the laser light supply from the optical fiber. The optical distribution network is configured to transmit the laser light supply to each of one or more optical transceivers and/or optical sensors. The laser light generator is physically separate from each of the one or more optical transceivers and/or optical sensors.
UNIDIRECTIONALLY OSCILLATING MICRO DISK LASER
A micro disk laser having a greater strength of oscillation in one direction than in another direction and unidirectionally oscillating includes a micro disk having an oval shape corresponding to a modified ellipse obtained by changing a length of a short axis of an ellipse according to a position of a long axis while lengths of first and second side portions of the long axis are fixed in the ellipse, the ellipse having the long axis and the short axis having a different length than the long axis.
Lidar system
In one embodiment, a lidar system includes a light source configured to emit pulses of light and a scanner configured to scan at least a portion of the emitted pulses of light across a field of regard. The lidar system also includes a receiver configured to detect at least a portion of the scanned pulses of light scattered by a target located a distance from the lidar system.
Multifrequency Ocean Lidar Power Optimizer
Systems and methods are provided for optimizing the energy output of a laser system, such as a Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) system, by allowing the laser system to be tuned while the laser is in operation. For example, in an embodiment, a sensor, such as a photoresistor, is used to perform a scan to determine whether turning the crystal will result in increased energy. Crystal turners, such as servo motors, can be used to turn the crystal until the energy stops increasing.
Architecture for compact cold atom clocks
An atomic oscillator device includes an atomic oscillator, a controlled oscillator, a resonance controller, and a cold-atom clock output. The atomic oscillator comprises a two-dimensional optical cooling region (2D OCR) for providing a source of atoms and a three-dimensional optical cooling region (3D OCR) for cooling and/or trapping the atoms emitted by the 2D OCR. The atomic oscillator comprises a microwave cavity surrounding the 3D OCR for exciting an atomic resonance. The controlled oscillator produces an output frequency. The resonance controller is for steering the output frequency of the controlled oscillator based on the output frequency and the atomic resonance as measured using an atomic resonance measurement. The cold-atom clock output is configured as being the output frequency of the controlled oscillator.
