Method and system for controlling optical frequency comb

A method and a system for controlling an optical frequency comb, where the working power of the pump source is dynamically adjusted and controlled, which not only greatly shortens a control time of a stable mode-locking and realizes a fast mode-locking control, but also quickly stabilizes the power control of stable working condition, thereby reducing unnecessary power consumption caused by power reciprocating oscillation tracking controls and better achieving the energy-saving effect of the power adjustment control process. The temperature of the working environment of the pump source is dynamically adjusted and controlled, so that the environment temperature can quickly reach the reference environment temperature required for mode-locking, which not only creates a good temperature condition for the mode-locking of the optical comb system, but also improves the efficiency of environment temperature stability control in the stable working conditions.

Wavelength-controlled beam stabilizer for spectrally beam combined laser sources

A fiber amplifier system including a plurality of seed beam sources each generating a seed beam at a different wavelength and a plurality of fiber amplifiers that amplify the seed beams. The system also includes a spectral beam combining (SBC) grating that spatially combines the amplified beams and directs them in the same direction as an output beam, and a first fiber sampler and a second fiber sampler that generate a first fiber sample beam having a first intensity and a second fiber sample beam having a second intensity. The system further includes a configuration of optical and electrical feedback components that determine a difference between the first intensity and the second intensity and use the difference to control the wavelength of all of the seed beams so that all of the amplified beams are spatially aligned and propagating in the same direction in the output beam.

A burst logging system logs and transmits to a local or remote computing system event data related to errors in and or potential failures of laser system components. The system further provides for capturing data at different rates from different sensors, synchronization of data capture associated with system events and the possibility for aggregation of data from multiple systems, which can in turn be leveraged to predict and or remediate future system events.

LASER LIGHT ENERGY AND DOSE CONTROL USING REPETITION RATE BASED GAIN ESTIMATORS

A laser system's laser light energy control and resulting dose control is improved by creating and using a set of gain estimators, one for each of a set or range of laser light pulse repetition rates. When a new repetition rate is used, its corresponding gain estimator is retrieved, used to compute the voltage to fire the laser source, and updated. The resulting generated laser light thereby avoids the convergence delay inherent in prior laser systems and, further, can repeatedly do so with subsequent specified repetition rates.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FREQUENCY CONVERSION AND AMPLIFICATION OF LASER RADIATION USING NON-LINEAR MEDIA IN OPTICAL RESONATORS

A device for generating laser radiation comprises a temperature-controlled optical setup comprising an optically non-linear solid state medium arranged in a resonator and an active region. The outgoing laser radiation is generated from a pump beam introduced into the optically non-linear solid state medium. A first temperature actuator and a second temperature actuator configured to independently adjust temperature values in the active region of the optically non-linear solid state medium. The first temperature actuator is configured regulate a length of the resonator by setting a first temperature value within a first portion of the active region. The second temperature actuator is configured to match phases of wavelengths generated by the outgoing laser radiation and phases of wavelengths of the pump beam radiation by setting a second temperature value within a second portion of the active region.

A laser system and method generate milliwatt-power pump light by a fiber-coupled laser diode with a single-mode integrated fiber housed in a pump enclosure. The milliwatt-power pump light is conveyed from the single-mode integrated fiber out of the first enclosure into one end of a single-mode fiber cable that is external to the pump enclosure. The milliwatt-power pump light is conveyed from an opposite end of the external single-mode fiber cable into one end of a single-mode resident fiber disposed internally within a laser-head enclosure. A crystal housed in the laser-head enclosure is pumped with the milliwatt-power pump light that exits into free space from an opposite end of the single-mode resident fiber onto a face of the crystal, to produce stable milliwatt-power single-mode laser light having a frequency stability of less than 3 MHz per minute. The stable milliwatt-power single-mode laser light is emitted from the laser-head enclosure.
