HIGH POWER CW MID-IR LASER
A CW laser with a rotating ring gain element is disclosed. The ring is pumped at multiple locations and the laser generates a mid-IR output. Multiple pumped gain portions of the ring provide a power scaled output. The gain portions may be positioned in a single resonator cavity, in multiple resonator cavities, and in MOPA architectures with associated focusing, folding, and combining optical elements.
Ceramic material for generating light
The invention relates to a ceramic material (14) for generating light when irradiated with radiation, wherein the ceramic material comprises a stack of layers (15, 16) having different compositions and/or different dopings. The ceramic material may be used in a spectral computed tomography (CT) detector, in order to spectrally detect x-rays, or it may be used as a ceramic gain medium of a laser such that temperature gradients and corresponding thermo-mechanical stresses within the gain medium can be reduced.
Optical frequency comb generator with carrier envelope offset frequency detection
The present invention provides systems and methods for optical frequency comb generation with self-generated optical harmonics in mode-locked lasers for detecting the carrier envelope offset frequency. The mode-locked laser outputs an optical frequency comb and a harmonic output. The harmonic output provides an optical heterodyne resulting in a detectable beat note. A carrier envelope offset frequency detector detects the beat note and generates an optical frequency comb signal. The signal can be used to stabilize the optical frequency comb output.
PASSIVE Q-SWITCHED LASERS AND METHODS FOR OPERATION AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
Systems and methods for imaging in the short wave infrared (SWIR), photodetectors with low dark current and associated circuits for reducing dark currents and methods for generating image information based on data of a photodetector array. A SWIR imaging system may include a pulsed illumination source operative to emit radiation pulses in the SWIR band towards a target resulting in reflected radiation from the target; (b) an imaging receiver including a plurality of Ge PDs operative to detect the reflected SWIR radiation and a controller, operative to control activation of the receiver for an integration time during which the accumulated dark current noise does not exceed the time independent readout noise.
CONTINUOUS WAVE END-PUMPED LASER
A laser system may include one or more of the following components: a power supply, a continuous wave pump laser, a fiber optic cable, a positive lens, a gain medium, a heat sink, and/or a Q-switch. The laser system may be used in a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system such as a scanning LIDAR system. The laser system may be designed to operate at wavelengths that may be safe for human eyes.

The input facet is coated with a highly reflective dielectric coating at microchip laser wavelength and highly transmissive at pump wavelength. The output facet is coated with a partially reflective at microchip laser wavelength dielectric coating. A saturable absorber attached by intermolecular forces to output facet of microchip laser. A handpiece for skin treatment includes the microchip laser.
PASSIVE Q-SWITCH PULSE LASER DEVICE, PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND MEDICAL APPARATUS
[Overview] [Problem to be Solved] To make it possible to generate pulsed laser light having a stable polarization direction while suppressing an increase in the pulse width of the pulsed laser light and a decrease in the peak intensity of the pulsed laser light, and miniaturizing an optical resonator and a laser device in a case where an amorphous material is used as the base material of a laser medium. [Solution] There is provided a passive Q-switch pulse laser device including: a laser medium; and a saturable absorber. The laser medium is disposed between a pair of reflection means included in an optical resonator. The laser medium is excited by specific excitation light to emit emission light. The saturable absorber is disposed on an optical axis of the optical resonator and on a downstream side of the laser medium between the pair of reflection means. The saturable absorber has a transmittance increased by absorption of the emission light. At least one of the pair of reflection means is a polarizing element. The polarizing element has different reflectances with respect to the respective pieces of emission light in polarization directions orthogonal to each other.
