Offshore structure and method for attaching a tube or cable to an appliance of an offshore structure

Provided is an offshore structure, especially offshore wind turbine, including a platform that is connected to the seabed, especially via a foundation that carries the platform, and an appliance, wherein it comprises guiding means for guiding at least one tube or cable along a guidance path from a respective entry point at which the tube or cable enters the platform to a respective connection point at which the tube or cable is connected or connectable to the appliance.

Method and apparatus for installation of cables by blowing and using an upstream lubricator

A method of installing a cable through a duct by blowing the cable with a stream of compressed air. The method comprises dispersing a nebulized lubricant in the stream of compressed air, causing the stream of compressed air to deposit the nebulized lubricant onto the cable and to blow it into the duct. An apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.

TRANSMISSION LINE INSTALLATION SYSTEM

A transmission line installation system includes a transmission line conveying apparatus that operates to install a transmission line within a conduit by advancing the transmission line through the conduit. The transmission line conveying apparatus includes a plurality of components. The components include local controllers. Communication with the local controllers of the components synchronizes operation of the components during the installation of a transmission line.

An electrical wire pulling device is for pulling wire through a conduit and includes a T-shaped hollow body including a side inlet transversely intersecting a path between a top inlet and a bottom outlet, and a constrictor adjacent the side inlet. A pulling line source, including a supply of pulling line, is positioned adjacent the top inlet and configured to supply the pulling line into the top inlet and out the bottom outlet. A constrictor has a tapered section tapering towards the bottom inlet. The bottom outlet is positioned adjacent the first end of the conduit. The side inlet is coupled to a fluid source to supply a fluid into the hollow body to be pushed downward towards the bottom outlet and create a pressure differential that draws the pulling line towards the bottom outlet and into the conduit.

INSTALLING A CABLE INTO A DUCT

Method for installing a cable into a duct, comprising the steps of: determining a maximum pressure, setting a leaking mode of a leaking plug to start at a leaking pressure drop equal to or lower than the maximum pressure, attaching the leaking plug to a foremost end of the cable, introducing the foremost end of the cable into the duct, supplying a pressurized liquid into the duct: at a supply port, and at a supply pressure, so that the cable is pulled by the leaking plug, before the foremost end has reached the second extremity, exceeding the leaking pressure drop at a location close to the leaking plug.

Cables with foamed insulation suitable for air-blown installation

Cables having foamed polymeric jackets that are suitable for air-blown may include at least one transmission media, such as one or more optical fibers or one or more twisted pairs. A jacket may be formed around the at least one transmission media. The jacket may be formed from or include an outer layer formed from foamed polymeric material. Additionally, an outer surface of the jacket may include a random distribution of surface variations. The surface variations may include a plurality of indentions and/or a plurality of protrusions.
