External and internal power management for embedded electronic devices
A power management system is provided to manage internal and external power sources for an embedded electronic device. The power management system includes an internal power source and an external power source. The power management system determines when to power the internal embedded electronic device or devices from either the internal or external power source, when to recharge the internal power source, when to shut down the internal embedded electronic device so as not to over discharge and damage the internal power source when external power is not available.
Power supply for aircraft systems
Disclosed is a direct current power supply. The direct current power supply includes a voltage output defining a voltage rail and a ground. The direct current power supply includes a holdup capacitor operable to conduct with the voltage output. The direct current power supply includes a redundant power supply connected in series with the holdup capacitor between the voltage rail and the ground of the voltage output to provide the voltage output. The direct current power supply includes a first switch disposed between the holdup capacitor and the redundant power supply operable to create a conductive path between the holdup capacitor and the redundant power supply.
BACKUP POWER-SUPPLY DEVICE
A backup power-supply device including a control unit is provided. In a case where a main power supply is normal when an ignition is turned on, the control unit controls to turn on or off a charging circuit to charge a capacitor from the main power supply so that a voltage of the capacitor becomes constant at a target voltage and turns off the discharging circuit to stop discharging from the capacitor to a first electronic device. In a case where an abnormality occurs in the main power supply when the ignition is turned on, the control unit turns off the charging circuit to stop charging from the main power supply to the capacitor and turns on the discharging circuit to perform discharging from the capacitor to the first electronic device.
DUAL POWER SUPPLY APPARATUS FOR AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE AND METHOD THEREOF
A dual power supply apparatus includes a main power grid that supplies power by a first battery to an autonomous vehicle and a redundant power grid that supplies power to a dual power load based on a second battery, in an emergency driving mode due to a failure in the main power grid.
Multiple-Input Power Supply and Control Method
A dual-input power conversion system includes a first primary side power network comprising a first hold-up capacitor, wherein the first primary side power network has inputs configured to be coupled to a first power source, and outputs coupled to a transformer, a second primary side power network comprising a second hold-up capacitor, wherein the second primary side power network has inputs configured to be coupled to a second power source, and outputs coupled to the transformer, and a secondary side power network having inputs coupled to a secondary side of the transformer, and outputs coupled to a load, wherein the first primary side power network and the second primary side power network are configured such that a voltage across one of the first hold-up capacitor and the second hold-up capacitor is maintained by a voltage reflected from the secondary side to a corresponding primary side.
VEHICLE BATTERY WITH A SELF-CONTAINED BACKUP CAPABILITY
Disclosed herein are a vehicle or other system battery with a self-contained backup capability and a method for providing power to a vehicle using the vehicle or other system battery with a self-contained backup capability. In one aspect, the vehicle battery comprises, a main battery portion, a backup battery portion, and a control device for selectively communicating a transfer of energy from the backup battery portion to the main battery portion when a voltage level or other health indicator of the main battery portion is determined to be below a reference voltage threshold, wherein the main battery portion and backup battery portion are each re-chargeable via an alternator of the vehicle when the control device communicates the transfer of energy between the main battery portion and the backup battery portion.
Multiple-Input Power Supply and Control Method
A dual-input power conversion system includes a first primary side power network coupled between a first ac power source and a first primary winding of a transformer, a second primary side power network coupled between a second ac power source and a second primary winding the transformer, a secondary side power network coupled to a secondary side of the transformer, and a power converter coupled between the secondary side power network and a load.
Method and Apparatus for Estimating the Available Runtime of a Battery Backup System
A battery monitoring system continuously calculates the estimated runtime of a bank of batteries in a battery backup system during both a period of operation when the load current is supplied by a commercial source of AC power and during a period of operation when the commercial source of AC power is not present and the load current is supplied by the bank. The estimated runtime may be displayed to an operator and used to alert the operator if the cutoff voltage of a battery in the bank is at or near its cutoff voltage. The system may open a circuit breaker to avoid catastrophic damage before the cutoff voltage is reached.
ELECTRIC POWER CONVERSION SYSTEM AND VEHICLE
An electric power conversion system and a vehicle, to improve vehicle availability. The electric power conversion system may receive electric energy provided by a first power supply, and supply power to at least one load module. The system may include a first direct current to direct current conversion module and a second direct current to direct current conversion module. The first direct current to direct current conversion module is configured to perform voltage conversion processing on the electric energy and provide the electric energy to the at least one load module. The second direct current to direct current conversion module is configured to perform voltage conversion processing on the electric energy and provide the electric energy to the at least one load module.
ADAPTABLE REDUNDANT POWER
An a adaptable redundant power (ARP) platform for a distributed redundant infrastructure includes: a plurality of load centers, wherein each load center includes a pair of corresponding load center switches, and wherein each load center has a priority; a plurality of duty power modules (DPMs), each coupled to a first subset of load centers via a first set of switches using a preferred setting (PS) input and to a second subset of load centers via a second set of switches using an alternate setting (AS) input, wherein each switch includes a transfer mechanism configured to transfer power from the PS input to the AS input in response to a failure of a DPM coupled to the PS input; and a manager that, in response to a detected failure of a DPM, disables the transfer mechanism of a subset of switches whose AS input is powered by a failed DPM.
