Magnetic bearing motor compressor
A sealed induction motor for a chiller assembly is provided. The induction motor includes a stator, a rotor, and a shaft with a first end and a second end. The rotor and the shaft are configured to rotate relative to the stator. The induction motor further includes a first magnetic bearing assembly located proximate the first end of the shaft and a second magnetic bearing assembly located proximate the second end of the shaft. The first and the second magnetic bearing assemblies are configured to support the shaft. The shaft is coupled to a centrifugal compressor using a direct drive connection.
Grounding brush seals
The disclosure describes an apparatus for sealing a rotating machine, such as an electric machine or gas turbine engine. The apparatus includes a brush seal. The brush seal includes a plurality of first filaments and a plurality of electrically conductive filaments. The first filaments are configured to seal a lubricant within a bearing chamber or sump of the rotating machine. The plurality of electrically conductive filaments is configured to contact a shaft of the rotating machine and discharge a shaft voltage-induced current from the shaft to an external ground of the rotating machine.
Grounding brush seals
The disclosure describes an apparatus for sealing a rotating machine, such as an electric machine or gas turbine engine. The apparatus includes a brush seal. The brush seal includes a plurality of first filaments and a plurality of electrically conductive filaments. The first filaments are configured to seal a lubricant within a bearing chamber or sump of the rotating machine. The plurality of electrically conductive filaments is configured to contact a shaft of the rotating machine and discharge a shaft voltage-induced current from the shaft to an external ground of the rotating machine.
Vibrator generator having swing unit, frame and elastic member
A vibrator includes a frame, a swing unit, and an elastic member. The swing unit is disposed within the frame and holds a magnet. The elastic member connects the swing unit and the frame. The swing unit is movable with respect to the frame while deforming the elastic member. The frame, the swing unit, and the elastic member are integrally molded with each other.
Torque monitoring of electrical submersible pump assembly
An electrical submersible well pump assembly has a SAW (surface acoustic wave) sensor on a motor shaft. A SAW electronic circuit mounts to the motor housing. The SAW electronic circuit has an antenna closely spaced to the SAW sensor for monitoring torque on the motor shaft. A controller at an upper end of the well supplies power to the motor. A motor gauge unit mounted to a lower end of the motor transmits signals to the controller. A signal line extends from the SAW electronic circuit to the motor gauge unit for transmitting signals from the SAW electronic circuit to the motor gauge unit, and from the motor gauge unit to the controller.

The rear cover of the transmission housing, the front end portion of the motor, and the seal together define at least a first labyrinth path and a second labyrinth path therebetween configured to inhibit grease or dust migration between the transmission housing and the motor assembly.

ELECTRIC DRIVE UNIT
An electric drive unit having an electric motor, which has a rotor and a stator that includes a stator core and field windings, a housing assembly into which the electric motor is received, and a seal member. The stator core defines a plurality of stator cooling passages that extend longitudinally through the stator core. Each of the field windings has a protruding portion that extends from an axial end of the stator core. The protruding portions are encapsulated in a plastic material. The housing assembly has an annular wall member that defines a seal groove. The seal member is received in the seal groove and forms a seal between the annular wall member and the plastic encapsulation on the protruding portion of the field windings. A coolant is circulated through the stator cooling channels, and the seal member inhibits ingress of the coolant between the stator and the rotor.
