WIRELESS RECEIVER AND WIRELESS RECEPTION METHOD
A wireless receiver and a wireless reception method provide: to determine a gain based on a first resistor having a first temperature characteristic and a second resistor having a second temperature characteristic different from the first resistance; to output an output of the first resistor and an output of the second resistor, or a ratio between the output of the first resistor and the output of the second resistor; and to switches the gain of the first circuit based on the outputs or the ratio between the outputs.
HYBRID VARIABLE GAIN AMPLIFIER
Hybrid variable gain amplifiers and methods of controlling hybrid VGAs are disclosed. The hybrid VGA includes a first portion that provides a current path between a positive input and a positive output, and a current path either between the positive input and a negative output, in a first mode of operation, or between the positive input and a voltage source, in a second mode of operation. A second portion of the VGA provides a current path between a negative input and the negative output, and a current path either between the negative input and the positive output, in the first mode of operation, or between the negative input and the voltage source, in the second mode of operation. Control voltages selectively enable the paths in the first or second mode of operation. The control voltages further control amount of current flow in the enabled paths.
AMPLIFYING CIRCUIT AND ASSOCIATED RECEIVER
An amplifying circuit includes a first gain adjusting circuit, a second gain adjusting circuit, a load circuit and a switch module. When the amplifying circuit operates in a first mode, the first gain adjusting circuit receives a first input signal, and generates a first output signal to a second output terminal of the amplifying circuit via the load circuit and the switch module; and when the amplifying circuit operates in a second mode, the second gain adjusting circuit receives a second input signal, and generates a second output signal to a first output terminal of the amplifying circuit via the load circuit and the switch module.
Radar System For Detecting Profiles Of Objects, Particularly In A Vicinity Of A Machine Work Tool
A radar system is disclosed for detecting profiles of objects, particularly in a vicinity of a machine work tool. The radar system uses a direct digital synthesiser to generate an intermediate frequency off-set frequency. It also uses an up-converter comprising a quadrature mixer, single-side mixer or complex mixer to add the off-set frequency to the transmitted frequency. It further uses a down-converter in the receive path driven by the off-set frequency as a local oscillator. The radar system enables received information to be transferred to the intermediate frequency. This in turn can be sampled synchronously in such a way as to provide a complex data stream carrying amplitude and phase information. The radar system is implementable with a single transmit channel and a single receive channel.
Analog automatic gain control based on estimated distributions of signal characteristics
Devices, systems and methods for analog automatic gain control (AGC) based on estimated distributions of signal characteristics are described. One example method includes generating a digital measurement of a first signal characteristic based on a second signal characteristic of an input signal received by the device, where the second signal characteristic is based on a level of the input signal. The digital measurement of the signal characteristic is used to update a statistical model for the input signal and the posterior probability distribution of the second signal characteristic conditioned on previous digital measurements of the first signal characteristic. The updated posterior probability distribution is used to generate a gain estimate, which is then used to adjust the power level of the input signal. Another example method may use multiple statistical models for each waveform supported by the system.
Amplifier
An amplifier according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a first transistor and a second transistor that are connected between a ground point and a power supply. A control terminal of the first transistor is connected to an input terminal. A first terminal of the first transistor is connected to the ground point. A second terminal of the second transistor is connected to an output terminal. The amplifier further includes an impedance element and a variable resistance unit. The impedance element is connected between the second terminal of the second transistor and the power supply. The variable resistance unit is connected between the second terminal of the first transistor and the first terminal of the second transistor.
Broadcast receiving apparatus and method for controlling thereof
A broadcast receiving apparatus is provided, which includes an input that receives input signals, a signal processing unit which amplifies only a signal in a band that corresponds to a selected channel from among the input signals, and automatic gain controls with a first sensitivity so that the amplified signal maintains a preset level value, and then outputs the result, a demodulator which demodulates the signals output from the signal processing unit into digital transport stream signals, a controller configured to control the signal processing unit so that the signal is automatic gain controlled with a second sensitivity less sensitive than the first sensitivity, when the selected channel is an ultra high frequency (UHF) range signal.
Scalable dynamic range analog-to-digital converter system
A scalable dynamic range analog-to-digital converter. In one instance, a method of scaling a dynamic range of an analog-to-digital converter is provided. The method includes operating the analog-to-digital converter at a first dynamic range. The method also includes receiving a radio frequency signal and detecting an on-channel signal level of the radio frequency signal. The method also includes when the on-channel signal level is above an on-channel threshold, operating the analog-to-digital converter at a second dynamic range. The method also includes when the on-channel signal level is below the on-channel threshold, operating the analog-to-digital converter at the first dynamic range.
Wireless receiver
A wireless receiver includes an analog-to-digital converter that converts a signal corresponding to a received signal into a digital signal on the basis of multiple reference voltages and outputs the digital signal. The wireless receiver also includes a control circuit that controls at least one of the multiple reference voltages on the basis of the digital signal that is output from the analog-to-digital converter.
SWITCHABLE CLAMPS ACROSS ATTENUATORS
Methods and devices for limiting the power level of low noise amplifiers (LNA) implemented in radio frequency (RF) receiver front-ends. The described methods are applicable to bypass, low and high gain modes of the LNA. According to the described methods, the decoder allows the signal to be clamped before or after being attenuated. The benefit of such methods is to improve large signal performances (e.g. IIP3, P1dB) of the RF receiver front-end, while still meeting the clamping requirements, or improve (lower) clamped output power, while still meeting large signal performances (e.g. IIP3, P1dB).
